Inspector Borowski – Borowski and the Crystal Sky.
Tweekums14 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode Borowski and Brandt investigate the murder of a young man whose severed head was discovered in a stream near a remote village, his remains suggest he was a user of crystal meth. His girlfriend Rita, who was a user but has now off drugs, is soon found but somebody has already threatened her and it is clear that she isn't telling the police everything she knows. The only other clue is the sighting of a silver car in the village at the time of the murder; fairly vague but when a similar car was reported stolen then returned the police have an important lead. As they try to track the killer Borowski tries to keep Rita safe but it won't be easy as there are people who don't want her talking to the police and as things get hard for her there is always a chance that she will be lured back into addiction.

This was a solid episode with an interesting central mystery and a fairly dark tone… right until the very end I was unsure whether Rita would survive; there was a very real threat from people determined to keep her silent as well as the chance end up doing drugs again and die due to that. Elisa Schlott does a fine job in the role making us care about this likable character. There are a few suspects so the viewer should be kept interested as they try to figure out who did it. The motive will be harder to guess but that doesn't detract from the story. Some of the suspects are distinctly unpleasant leading to at least one scene that is quite disturbing even if what they do is strongly implied rather than shown. Overall this was another good episode that fans of the series should enjoy.
