Desperation often leads to violence when someone’s back is against the wall. Humans are animals, and when cornered, they’ll lash out, throwing caution to the win as part of a fight or flight response. In Lionsgate‘s Desperation Road trailer, a mother protects herself against a corrupted officer of the law, leading to gunfire, bewilderment, and a snap decision to flee the scene. Mistakes can catch up to the best of us, and secrets unravel easily when the past comes back to haunt you.
“In a small Mississippi town, justice and the law are two very different things,” reads the official synopsis for Desperation Road. “Academy Award Winner Mel Gibson, Garret Hedlund, and Willa Fitzgerald star in a modern noir thriller based on the acclaimed novel by Michael Farris Smith about two lost souls tortured by the mistakes of their past and bound by a secret that keeps them running.

Belgium martial arts and film sensation Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as none other than martial arts and film sensation Jean-Claude Van Damme, who is also an undercover operative under the alias “Johnson,” in the upcoming Amazon series “Jean-Claude Van Johnson.” Yes, let that sit for a second.

After another round of letting people check out pilots, Amazon Studios has given the go ahead on three series, and they’re all pretty fantastic.
I Love Dick, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, and The Tick all got series orders, and will come out in 2017. You can still catch the pilots if you didn’t manage to get to them yet, and at least now be more comfortable in the fact that you’ll get to watch the shows.
I Love Dick is a strong, but odd, effort starring Kevin Bacon, and is executive produced by Jill Soloway and Andrea Sperling of Transparent, so you can feel pretty safe there.
Jean-Claude Van Johnson is a weirdly fun spin on spy efforts that I think will suck in even those going in with low expectations.
And, The Tick is The Tick.

Last week, TBS cancelled their Clipped TV show after one season. It turns out that there won't be a second season of their Your Family or Mine sitcom either. It's also been cancelled.
Your Family or Mine revolves around a married couple in Seattle, Kelli (Kat Foster) and Oliver Weston (Kyle Howard). They and their two children alternate visits between their respective parents and in-laws, all of whom are quite unique. The rest of the extended family members are played by Richard Dreyfuss, JoBeth Williams, Danny Comden, Andrew Less, Angela Kinsey, Ed Begley Jr., Cynthia Stevenson, and Stephanie Hunt.

Is the terrifying Klaus Mikaelson actually scared? That’s the question posed in an all-new, extended trailer for The Originals Season 3, as Klaus is told by Cami and others that he’s afraid of losing his family, and, in typical Klaus-fashion, he doesn’t react to those assertions very well. One of the people insisting that Klaus is worried about his broken family is Lucien (Your Family or Mine‘s Andrew Lees), the first vampire Klaus ever sired. However, as we know from what executive producers Julie Plec and Michael Narducci told us, Lucien won’t be the only vampire from the Mikaelsons’ past arriving in New Orleans, as the sired vampire lines of the original family begin converging on their home, seeking vengeance of some sort. And with those new enemies also come old ones for Klaus. Davina, now in control of the coven, is looking to take him down; Hayley is as angry…...

Although the last two seasons of The Originals have brought the Mikaelsons together with their parents, long-lost siblings, and even their evil Aunt Dahlia, it will be a different kind of family reunion in Season 3 of the CW drama, when vampires from each of the living originals’ sirelines come to New Orleans with their own agenda. And thanks to this batch of photos from The Originals‘ upcoming third season premiere, “For the Next Millennium,” we have a first look at one of those reunions between Klaus and Lucien (Your Family or Mine‘s Andrew Lees). However, in addition to that meeting of parent and child, we have a much more literal one as Elijah brings Hope with him to visit Hayley, who is still trapped in her wolf form for most of the month due to the moon curse. As Daniel Gillies told us back at Comic-Con, Elijah’s main...

There are a lot of TV shows out there and some are bound to fall through the cracks. That's especially true for a new sitcom on a network like TBS, which most people assume only shows reruns of The Big Bang Theory on a 24-hbour loop (not true: TBS only devotes 15 hours per week to Big Bang).
This is why I'd like to direct your attention to a tiny new show on TBS called Your Family or Mine, airing Tuesdays at 10pm. You may not have heard of it, even though it's already aired its first two episodes, but it's definitely worth checking out.

Sometimes it seems like I spend a disproportionate amount of my life talking with actors about the differences between single-cam and multi-cam comedies. Here's another of those interviews. TBS and Sony Pictures TV's "Your Family or Mine" returns star Kyle Howard to the network and studio behind "My Boys," which had a well-regarded four-season run (but somehow aired only 49 episodes, which surprised me a little) ending in 2010. In November, I sat down with Howard on the "Your Family or Mine" set to talk about whether he feels any continuity between his earlier sitcom and the new one -- this was before a new creative administration took over at TBS -- and how the difference between single-cam and multi-cam comedies impact him. Howard agreed with co-star Kat Foster that the two leads have a very good chemistry and that that kind of chemistry is both rare and lucky. He also explains...

Kyle Howard has made his "Your Family or Mine" co-star Kat Foster believe in love, or at least believe in on-screen chemistry. "I never totally bought the idea of 'chemistry,' like 'romantic chemistry.'" Foster told me. "I always thought like,'"Oh well if you’re a nice and sweet person with some kind of charm you can probably kind of have chemistry with anyone.' And I thought that for a while and then as we’ve shot the show I’ve started to buy chemistry because I truly feel that Kyle and I really have a genuine kind of simpatico that is actually very, very rare to find with someone you’re playing opposite." All together now: "Awww..." The conceit of "Your Family or Mine" is that Foster's Kelli and Howard's Oliver are married. Each episode alternates between the couple's interactions with her family --...

Richard Dreyfuss doesn't need to play any reindeer games. An Oscar winner and one of the world's biggest movie stars for two decades, Dreyfuss has only periodically popped up on the big or small screens in recent years because he's been concentrating his efforts on overhauling the way American children are taught civics and serving as Senior Associate Member of St. Anthony's College in Oxford. While his recent credits have been sparse, I've talked to Dreyfuss several times in the past few years and the key is always to find what he wants to discuss, even if it isn't necessarily the project he's promoting. So with the 2012 A&E adaptation of "Coma," it certainly wasn't "Coma," but it could have been the shift in interactions between actors and directors over the years and whether or not TV is more actor-friendly. With this winter's Sundance debut of "Zipper," it was the political backdrop to the thriller.

Based on an Israeli format, the show centers on Oliver and Kelli, who are living proof of the adage “When you marry someone, you don’t just marry them, you marry their whole family.” It is a family comedy with an unusual structure — each episode focuses on a different side of the family: one week featuring the couple dealing with Kelli’s family, the next spent with Oliver’s.
