Great

Super for fans of all likes. A true depiction of how and why Husker fans are they way they (we) are.

For those of us who have left our beloved State and moved onto other pursuits and dreams, the documentary shows how we are drawn back HOME and why we drawn back. It is more than just our love for HUSKER FOOTBALL, its about our culture, our roots, our fondness and love for what makes growing up in the State so special.

It also depicts others, our children, who have observed our behavior - our love for the State, culture, our roots and the football heritage - and how we in essence...transfer our love of the same thing to them.

Something for all.

Husker fan or not--GREAT film!
pgjans31 July 2014
This movie is great for fans of Nebraska football. This movie is every bit as good for people who are not fans of Nebraska football. It depicts life on the plains, giving a sense of how Midwestern folks develop their personalities, and how they attach themselves to something like Husker football. But what really drives the movie is the filmmaker's own story of humanity. His journey takes a topic that many people would be passionate about (and many more would find completely uninteresting) and adds a personal, human element. You can't help but feel the love pouring from the movie. I'm a football fan, but I got a bit misty at parts (the original music had a lot to do with that, something you can't always say about truly independent films--EXCELLENT). There was also some really great photography. Obviously, if you love Husker football, this is a great film. But if you've ever left home, wherever that may be, it's an even better film. Great work!

Great Documentary

Allot of sports documentaries can be dry and a little boring. Through These Gates is not one of those. Ryan Tweedy did an amazing job capturing the passion and the people of Nebraska. He does a great job incorporating touching stories with comedy to make for a very enjoyable movie watching experience. There are amazing shots of CarHenge and some interviews you won't see anywhere else, ranging from Dr. Tom to Jack Hoffman. I recommend this for any and all Husker fans, not just to reaffirm their fandom but to help convert those who don't bleed Husker Red. It is hard not to feel pride for your team and state after watching it. I can't help but to want to watch football after seeing the Movie. I can't imagine how hard it was for him to edit this movie without getting the adrenaline flowing.
