I like it but it's not for everyone

This is not a laugh-out-loud comedy like your average network sitcom or even a blunt, cringe-comedy show like Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's subtler than that. You can't lean back and let the laughs wash over you.

You have to lean forward and notice how much subtle acting is going on as the characters face uncomfortable situations and try their hardest to repress everything under a veneer of feel-good-ness and woke politics.

Because that's what this is: a satire of the type of well intentioned, right thinking liberals who give themselves hernias squelching the urge to scream obscenities at an immensely frustrating world. Because that would not be politically correct.

Once you catch onto what is going on, it becomes fascinating. And it helps if you happen to like the actors. Because not everyone wants to lean forward into a show when so many are easy, lean-back shows to watch.

Warning: Spoilers
After this episode, I am out. I don't plan on witching the rest of series. The show has been boring since the first episode and this episode was the worst. When I found out the curse was a stupid tik tock trend, I rolled my eyes. The acting in this episode is so bad. I don't know if the stupidity of the main characters is an acting choice or a writing choice but it was so annoying. The directing style of these long lingering shots is certainly an artistic choice but it looks like it is just filler for the actual lack of a story. This episode seems to predictably playing out some sort of Rosemary's Baby situation, which is being played out in both American Horror Story and Shining Vale this year.

Warning: Spoilers
"Questa Lane" had a few moments that really made me laugh, but those were few and far between. This show has a style and a tone and I just worry that it might not be for me.

They lean too much into this odd dynamic of a couple who puts on an act in front of the screen and then is completely different behind it. That is how TV has worked for years and years, but I am just not amused by Whitney and Asher on either side of it right now.

It has me curious enough to see what will happen in the end, and I guess they benefit from nothing else being on right now, but I was still hoping for a bit more from The Curse.
