Archeological enthusiast Martin Stone takes his soon to be son in law Ashley Taylor on a bonding trip, metal detecting. The pair happen upon a valuable Saxon haul, but instead if handing it over, they try to get some money for it, illegally.
I have to admit, I really enjoyed this first episode, so different to what I was expecting, and completely different to anything that's been in recently.
It's lighter in tone than I'd expected, I have a feeling it's going to open up somewhat.
It's almost like a serious version of Detectorists, and the legalities surrounding finds are fascinating.
Neil Morrissey is a joy, and isn't he ageing very well.
A fine start.
7/10.
