Big story for Kitty, at last.

The Ghost are keen to discover exactly what happened on Pineapple Day, the day that Kitty sadly died. Alison and Mike plan for their new arrival, and need a nursery, the stumbling block, Fanny.

Easily the best episode so far from this final series, quite wonderful, and a reminder of what has made Ghosts such a terrific series.

I loved Kitty's story, and it was great seeing the rest of the gang playing Detectives, and size really putting the pieces tighter, and learning what happened on that day. Great to have a big Kitty story, long overdue.

I think I'm starting to mix up The British and US series, as I thought there had already been a 'trapped in the safe room episode.'

I really loved that scene between Mike and Barclay, it just goes to show what an act of kindness can do, even to the hardest of hearts.

The Kitty backstory we were waiting for

After the disappointing second episode, this is a return to form. We finally get Kitty's death, and it really plays with some of the fan theories that had been suggested online - poisoning by her sister, food poisoning from a pineapple, or dying during a game of hide and seek are all hinted at in this episode. But it turns out to be an accidental death, and one which allows her sister Eleanor a touching moment of redemption.

I really enjoyed the ghosts acting as detectives and trying to piece together the events of Kitty's death. It had shades of the Thomas Thorne Affair, in that different ghosts' memories are crucial to unlocking the mystery.

The other plot strands are satisfying too, and the episode has plenty of laugh out loud moments, notably Mike singing to himself (a la "Daddy's gonna drill a hole in the wall"), Thomas displaying an appreciation of gangsta rap, and a game show they like to watch called "Is it cake?".

A classic episode.

Pineapple Day

Good to have a Kitty-centric episode in this final season and to learn about her death, as disappointing as it may have been. They did a good job of continually teasing the concept of the safe because we knew that eventually someone would get stuck in there, but it took multiple attempts of people going in and out before it happened.

This was another funny episode and one with a lot of emotion as well. Seeing Allison and Mike get a rare win over their obnoxious neighbor was a good payoff as well, and like so many other elements, disappointing to see that this might be the last time those two parties butt heads.
