Son of Ghostman
colewisp21 December 2013
This is a truly heartwarming story without the traditional Hollywood hubbub. A very touching story with phenomenal acting and directing. If you're sick of the big budget Hollywood romantic comedies, this is your kind of movie. It is apparent the film was made on a very small budget with a lot of help from a lot of friends. There are some rough edges but they add to the character of the film. Devin Ordoyne and Marlon Correa deliver awesome performances as well as Kurt Larson wearing all kinds of hats for the film. Ten times better than Burt Wonderstone and a much better story. You'll feel good about contributing to the success of this wonderful little film.

Strong debut directorial effort and great acting on no budget

Son of Ghostman is a well written, well acted ULB indie feature from first time director Kurt Larson. More Rom-Com than Horror, it proves very entertaining. Skill and passion by a small creative team of friends, who won't take no for an answer, can make up for the lack of budget. Simply shot, the look of the film is fitting to the story. There is nothing in this genre script we haven't seen before. Boy meets girl, boy can't get girl, boy tries till he wins. There are obstacles in the boys way, mostly of his own making, that he must overcome. A few original touches and earnest performances really make it work. Every role was well cast and each actor delivers. It's funny, honest, and touching. I can't wait to see what Larson does next. Highly recommended!

Great story, wonderful film!

Son of Ghostman is a wonderful and heartfelt film that is well written and well acted by this ensemble cast. Full of fantastic 80's nostalgia, this film tells its story simply and directly with characters you can't help but fall in love with. This film takes its time and slowly lets you into the world of each character and they all win you over. By the end you are cheering the lead character on not just because you love him, but also because you love to hate his rival played perfectly by the filmmaker, Kurt Larson, himself. Son of Ghostman is a very well made and extremely enjoyable film that reminds us all that in the game of life; it is always best to lead with our heart, follow your gut...and know that the rest will fall into place.

A movie that made me cozy

I'm not a fancy reviewer, hell.. I'm a suburban mom with 2 kids. The fanciest I ever get is putting on lipstick to go to the Olive Garden. But I know movies. And I absolutely adore this movie. The acting was fantastic (crushing on Denny!) for the entire cast. When I wish I had friends like this in real life.. then I know I watched true artists. From the well-written characters to the actors who delivered the lines..

It was reminiscent of John Hughs with the soundtrack, some cuts, and some of the style.. but it brought back that nostalgia without making it nauseating or comical.

I know the movie was indie, but it truly didn't feel that way. The use of space, the angles, and the actors made it feel so inviting.

As Will Ferrell would say, as he is impersonating James Lipton "It was a DELIGHT!"

PS.. By the end of the movie, you'll want Carlo to be your best friend too. Claire was awesome too - tough as nails, beautiful hair, and dedicated!
