Whenever people talk about the UK, the environment and wildlife there is probably one of the last things they would mention. I mean, compared to countries in South America, Africa and even the rest of Europe, the UK just seems like one of the most boring countries for its environment.
This documentary has blasted any preconceptions I had about British wildlife out of the water. The British environment is incredibly beautiful, contrary to popular belief, and we have a surprising amount of varied and interesting wildlife here. This episode in particular is brilliantly filmed and narrated. The spider sequence isn't for everyone I imagine, but for me that was one of the most interesting bits of filmmaking I've ever seen from a BBC nature doc. Special mention to the music throughout this series too. The score really helps to build a movie-like atmosphere and characterise the animals and plants, something which is also built through Attenborough's story-like narration style.
