Jackie Chan may have turned 70 just this week but the dude is timeless. He exudes the youth that he had when he broke out in a big way in the ‘70s with movies like Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow, so much so that when he turned up earlier this year with white hair and looking plenty worn – hey, decades of death-defying stunts’ll do that to ya – fans just assumed he was in bad health. But fear not because Jackie Chan is dismissing any notions that he is the frail old man you saw, revealing it was all for a movie.
Jackie Chan took to Instagram this week to address fan concerns, posting, “Not so long ago, a lot of friends saw some recent photos of me on the internet, and they were all concerned about my health. I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know, don’t worry!

There's an entire generation of movie lovers who first encountered Jackie Chan in the "Rush Hour" films. The actor, director and stuntsman didn't have a huge love for the franchise at the time, perhaps because they barely scratched the surface of what he was capable of as a choreographer. Still, his buddy cop films hold a special place in the hearts of countless action fans, and his rapport with co-star Chris Tucker isn't half bad, either.
The "Rush Hour" trilogy hasn't aged the best in the intervening years, thanks in part to its director, Brett Ratner, who was accused of sexual misconduct in 2017. The film's "East meets West" humor would also never fly today, making the franchise something of a time capsule for irreverent, 2000s humor. Still, we could never get enough of Chan and Tucker — that's why we're all still holding out for that potential "Rush Hour 4." While...

Jackie Chan has always defied the process of aging with his boundless energy. So much so that now, when he finally decided to gracefully embrace aging and all the parts and parcels that come along with it, he’s left fans in disbelief once again. A recent picture of the global icon, who will soon be stepping into his seventies, caused quite a bit of a stir online. Why? Fresh from his horse wrangler film Ride On, Jackie Chan has lined up an action comedy flick centering on baby pandas. The 69-year-old screen icon is set to star in Panda Plan, directed by mainland Chinese filmmaker Zhang Luan (Song of Youth, Give Me Five) and produced by Mandarin Motion Pictures and Wishart Media Co.
The project was announced on the last day of Tokyo’s Tiffcom content market and will make its sales debut at the American Film Market in Los Angeles next week.
The film centers on a rare baby panda with a dark circle around just one eye, who becomes a worldwide sensation when he’s born at China’s Noah Zoo. But when a Middle Eastern tycoon dispatches international mercenaries to kidnap the zoo’s baby pandas, Chan, playing a version of himself as an international action star, is forced to get involved in a rescue mission.

In the world of buddy cop comedies, the "Rush Hour" franchise remains a standout. The odd coupling of a reserved chief inspector from Hong Kong and a fast-talking LAPD officer sparked three action-packed, hilarious films popular the world over, amassing over $850 million at the global box office.
Across the three films, Chief Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) and Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) solve cases in Hong Kong and the U.S., even paying a brief visit to France, typically involving the Triads and government officials. And while the trilogy offers adrenaline-inducing action sequences, it's the comedic chemistry between the two actors that has endured.
When the first installment of "Rush Hour" debuted in 1998, North American audiences had just become acquainted with Chan following the success of "Rumble in the Bronx," while films like "Friday" and "The Fifth Element" highlighted Tucker as an emerging comedic voice. Jackie Chan has signed on to star in A Legend, a martial arts fantasy-adventure movie which will be a sequel to his 2005 movie The Myth.
The sequel to The Myth will find Jackie Chan reprising his role as archaeology expert Professor Chen. “The film’s action begins when he notices that the texture on the artifacts discovered by his students during a glacier expedition is strikingly similar to a jade pendant he had seen in his dreams,” reads the description. “Suspecting that the pendant is acting as a bridge between the realm of dreams and reality, Professor Chen leads his research team on a journey deep into the Glacier Temple, embarking on a fantastical adventure.” A Legend will be directed by Stanley Tong, a long-time collaborator of Chan who has helmed Police Story 3, Rumble in the Bronx, and The Myth.

It’s no secret that Prince was originally cast to play Ruby Rhod in the 1997 sci-fi cult classic The Fifth Element. That role eventually went Chris Tucker, who says Prince’s displeasure over the character’s costumes contributed to the musician’s decision to pass on the film.
Tucker made the revelation during an appearance on The View, where he was promoting his role in the new Nike biopic Air. When The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg brought up The Fifth Element — a personal favorite of hers — Tucker recalled being at a club in Los Angeles one night when Prince’s security approached him, saying the musician wanted to meet the guy who ended up playing Ruby Rhod.
“He said, ‘You played that part in Fifth Element. I was supposed to play that part,’” Tucker told the View cast, flaunting a pretty good Prince impression. “I said, ‘For real?’ He said,...

Jackie Chan announced at the Red Sea International Film Festival last December that “Rush Hour 4” is officially in development.
“We’re talking about ‘Rush Hour 4’ right now,” the acting icon said, adding that he would be meeting with the film’s director later that night to work on the script. No official “Rush Hour 4” details exist outside of Chan’s tease, but consider his co-star Chris Tucker more than eager to return to the franchise.
Tucker recently spoke to Audacy’s V-103 while making the press rounds for his role in Ben Affleck’s “Air.” He included “Rush Hour 4” on his roster of projects coming up next.

Most fans of the original comedy classic "Friday" and its subsequent sequels might assume that star Ice Cube actually stepped behind the camera to direct one, if not all, of the entries in his beloved neighborhood stoner trilogy. But in fact, he didn't direct a single installment in the franchise. Ice Cube did try his hand at directing in the late '90s with "Players Club," a story about a single mother who turns to the underworld of exotic dance to make ends meet.
Aside from an ESPN episode of "30 for 30" about the Oakland Raiders' move to Los Angles in 1982, "Players Club" is the only directing credit for Cube, who prefers to share the limelight with other directors. This is especially true with the "Friday" series where the rap mogul liked hiring first-time directors. As Hong Kong heads into a 10th week of mass demonstrations against a controversial China extradition bill, facing a major political crisis, high-profile local natives Jackie Chan and Tony Leung Ka-fai have publicly thrown their weight behind Beijing over the mass protests that have swept the former British colonial outpost since March.
In an interview with Chinese state broadcaster CCTV, Chan said (via Variety) it is “heartbreaking and worrying for many” to witness the gripping violence of the mass unrest, and that he supported the state TV’s campaign to protect the national flag “desecrated” by protesters. Specifically, Chan was referring to an incident in which pro-democracy protesters had thrown the flag of the People’s Republic of China into the sea.
“On one hand, I needed to express my most basic patriotism as a Hong Kong citizen and a Chinese,” Chan said. “I am also one of the flag guards.

When previously talking about Rush Hour 4 back in 2012, Chan said in an interview with Power 106:
“For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed… the script, probably end of this month. They’re on the second draft.

Female-centric reboots are all the rage in Hollywood right now and it looks like we’ve got another one coming. According to That Hashtag Show, Stx Studios is reportedly in early development on a female reboot of the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker action film franchise Rush Hour.

Neither Tucker nor Chan were actively involved in the Rush Hour TV series, so it’s small wonder why fans are gleefully anticipating their next big-screen appearance. That, and the fact that CBS pulled the plug on its ho-hum Rush Hour spinoff after just one season, proving that, when it comes to loud-mouth cops and kick-ass special agents, there’s really no one better than Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan – no disrespect to Justin Hires (Carter) and Jon Foo (Lee), of course. And don’t get me started on their near-effortless chemistry.

Indefatigable Chinese action star Jackie Chan dodged a real-life natural disaster this week when a mudslide hit the production of his upcoming film “Project X.”
Chan said that filming was interrupted in the last few days when the weather changed and triggered a mudslide. Crew and equipment were caught in the landslip. “Our crew were caught in a massive mudslide! A few of our production trucks were stuck in the river of rushing mud,” Chan said on social media.
Nobody was seriously injured, though clearly some people were badly scared by the near-miss. Chan took to Facebook, Twitter, his own blog and Chinese social media to confirm the event and reassure fans that all were safe.
The film is produced by Chan’s Sparkle Roll Media and China’s Talent International. Few cast details have been revealed other than Chan himself and American former pro-wrestler John Cena.

Remember that Bret Ratner guy who made a lot of bad movies and then was accused by multiple women of sexual harassment? After all of those allegations came out against him, Warner Bros. was quick to cut all ties with him and his production company. Well, the Ratner apparently thinks he's going to make a big comeback with directing Rush Hour 4.
According to THR, Ratner is plotting his comeback and has been telling associates that he will direct the fourth film in the franchise. But that's not gonna happen! The studio does not want him back and they do not want him to direct Rush Hour 4. According to a source:
"Brett has been walking around town telling people he's going to direct a Rush Hour movie because it's his only way back in. He's trying to make believe he's employable. Putting together a movie with him would be 'a suicide mission.

Like other men accused of sexual misconduct, Brett Ratner appears to be plotting a comeback — in this case, just six months after allegations against him first surfaced. His hoped-for vehicle: the Rush Hour franchise.
Sources say that Ratner has been telling associates that he will direct the fourth film in the series — a boast that has put Warner Bros. and its New Line division in an awkward position.
Studio sources emphatically say Ratner will not helm a fourth Rush Hour film if there is one. "Brett has been walking around town telling people he's going to ...

If you thought that Rush Hour was over then you must not have been paying attention all these years. It’s been a decade or more since the last Rush Hour film came out and quite honestly it wasn’t considered to be as good as the first or second one, but then few movies ever are. The one thing that’s been keeping these movies alive is the fact that Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan work so well together and because the whole East meets West thing is still a very fun dynamic to put into a movie. The culture clash that

Chris Tucker has confirmed that Rush Hour 4 is definitely happening and right now a lot of people are either getting really excited or hanging their heads and asking ‘why?’. There’s a good reason for both reactions and everything that might happen in the middle since back in 1998 when Rush Hour first came out it was golden. The movie was something that had been seen before but it was done in a style that was still fresh enough that people laughed and cheered the characters on, thinking that it worth their time and was done in a fashion that

Batgirl: Just about a year ago, we heard that Joss Whedon (Avengers: Age of Ultron, above) would be writing and directing Batgirl for Warner Bros. and DC. Now Whedon says: "Batgirl is such an exciting project, and Warners/DC such collaborative and supportive partners, that it took me months to realize I really didn't have a story." Of course, Whedon was also busy last year helping to complete Justice League after the unexpected departure of director Zack Snyder. We'll have to wait and see where the Batgirl project goes from here. [The Hollywood Reporter] Rush Hour 4: Chris Tucker starred together with Jackie Chan in three popular installments of the Rush Hour action-comedy franchise, all directed by Brett Ratner, the last in 2007 (above). Chris Tucker has confirmed Rush Hour 4 is in production. Tucker didn't have any details beyond that, but told ESPN podcast The Plug the following about the film:
It's happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready, and we want to do this so people don't ever forget it.
Jackie Chan better be ready because at 63, they're losing time! Side note, Chris Tucker is only 46 and I had no idea there was such an age disparity between the two of them. Granted, it's not something I've ever really thought about but Tucker is much younger than I assumed he was in the first few films.
Are you excited for Rush Hour 4? Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?...

Rush Hour 4 is an active project, it seems...
Since we last heard anything about Rush Hour 4, namely the story you can find below, the director of the three films to date, Brett Ratner, has faced accusations of sexual misconduct. As such, it looks as if he's backed away from a bunch of movie projects (he was in line to direct the Hugh Heffner biopic).
Rush Hour 4, however, is still very much pressing ahead. Jackie Chan had said as much last autumn, and now Chris Tucker, his co-star, has confirmed this too. "It’s happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it", he told ESPN'S The Plug podcast.

No problem… just “Rush Hour 4.” Ten years after the buddy-cop franchise directed by Brett Ratner became a trilogy featuring a bizarre Roman Polanski cameo, Jackie Chan says that a fourth installment is indeed in the works — but what happens next depends on Chris Tucker.

Jackie Chan might already be 63 years old but that won’t stop him from saving the world along with the 46-year old Chris Tucker. Chan has recently confirmed that a fourth Rush Hour might soon be finally happening. The only thing that they need to do is to have Tucker agree to come back. It’s been ten years since Rush Hour 3. No fourth film has been produced ever since although a TV show adaptation was produced by CBS but it was cancelled after only one season. It's been ten years since we last saw Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker kicking ass together as Lee and Carter in Rush Hour 3 and now it looks like Rush Hour 4 is prepping up for development. According to Jackie Chan, he has agreed to do it.
During a recent radio interview on L.A.'s Power 106 (via Deadline), Chan said:
“For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed.”
All three films were directed by Brett Ratner, but there's no word on if he'll be back for the fourth one. I assume that if it happens, he will direct it. I'm not the biggest fan of Ratner's work, but the Rush Hour franchise is probably his best work. He is set to direct the Hugh Hefner biopic with Jared Leto next.
