Underrated and Wasn't Given a Chance
slimer848912 December 2014
I remember back in the days of summer 2012. I would be home from spending long hours on the library's computers. This was when I had cable, and right before we made the switch to DirecTV (which came in the following fall). I remember seeing many commercials for this show called You Gotta See This, and Nickelodeon would often air "sneak peeks" (and I put that in quotes because they weren't sneak peeks), which were just full episodes. So, I watched it, and... The show was pretty good. Yeah, I know, it's basically Nick's answer to AFV, but what can you do? Anyway, I actually remember laughing a lot at this show. The two hosts, who were from the short-lived How to Rock (an underrated show that also wasn't given a chance) were excellent. They managed to pump out some good jokes. I remember they wouldn't just make jokes about videos, they would also visit the set of Nick shows. I only remember them visiting the iCarly set. They would just have a ball with the cast on the sets they would visit and they would (I think) prank them.

Then, the crap hit the fan. After every one of these "sneak peeks", there would be a commercial for the series. It would always say "Coming in October". October came... and no sign of the show in sight. This was when Nick was beginning to be their dumb selves that you see today. They canned a show that had potential... before it was set to premiere. How sad. It seems that the network loves pulling shows with potential, and favors the dumb shows. For example: The Legend of Korra, a loved show that was recently canceled in order to make room for vile crap like Henry Danger. These are sad days for the first kids network for kids, folks. Sad days, indeed.

One problem I had with the show was One Direction. Now, around this time, the band was the biggest breakout hit on the planet, and Nickelodeon tried to squeeze enough juice from these British boys as they could, like having them perform at that year's KCAs, having them appear on iCarly, and having them give a "special message" after a night of then-new episodes of their then-still going shows. And of course, they HAD to appear on this show. But it could be worst... At least they weren't the hosts.

Well, I'll miss you, You Gotta See This. You remind me of much simpler times. The times of sitting at home all alone on a late-summer day, relaxing on the loveseat while eating the Krave cereal that my sister said she would eat, but didn't. Such good days those were!

By the way, what's up with the picture that shows up on this show's IMDb page? Is that even from the show? I don't remember that episode.
