Dear Warner Bros.,
Here we are on the cusp of a new year. Justice League (Jl) is still struggling at the box office, trying to recoup the heavy financial losses, while fans are left wondering what will happen next. WB and DC use to be at the top of the superhero genre with such great classic films like Superman (‘78) and Batman (‘89), each of which had a successful sequel...and not so successful proceeding films. If anything can be learned from these past films, chasing possible viewer trends is risky, and putting nipples on the batsuit was a horrible idea. However, as we move forward into a new year all I have to say is, hold on! Even though Jl is not the box office hit you hoped it would be there are plenty of silver linings to be found within the catalog of DC characters and the Dceu as a whole.

I know that right now everyone is excited about seeing Batman teaming up with Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg in Justice League. But, you know what might be even more exciting!? Watching Batman team up with Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo of Mystery Inc.
There's a new animated movie being released from Warner Bros. Animation called Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold and it wouldn't be the first time that Batman has crossed paths with Scooby-Doo. But in this latest adventure, there will be several other DC characters involved such as Martian Manhunter, Black Canary, Aquaman, Plastic Man, the Joker, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Scarecrow, and Poison Ivy.
As far as the main villain is concerned it looks like there's a flying red ghost creature involved. Of course, in classic Scooby-Doo fashion, the red ghost will end up being someone that the team encounters while trying to...

When Batman: The Brave and the Bold debuted on Cartoon Network back in 2008, many fans were understandably hesitant when it came to seeing a lighter take on the Caped Crusader than had been witnessed in animation for some time. But lo and behold, said animated series found much success throughout the course of its three seasons by retaining the tongue-in-cheek nature of the TV show starring Adam West and utilizing the vastness of the DC Universe in a way similar to Justice League Unlimited. Really, it’s no wonder why some felt it rivaled Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond in terms of quality.
Since its cancellation in 2011, none of us thought we’d ever be seeing the Hammers of Justice again, especially since no direct-to-video movie swiftly followed the series finale. Now, six years later, the folks at Warner Bros. Animation have decided to dust off the franchise...

So there are two famous DC superheroes with stretchy powers, and it looks like Elongated Man has beat Plastic Man to the live-action punch. While there was a Plastic Man film in development in the mid-90s (with the Wachowski sisters writing the screenplay), nothing came of it, and Elongated Man will be making his debut on the CW's The Flash, played by Hartley Sawyer. And while The Flash has been pretty good with... Read More...

"'The League' thinks they know how to take back their world, but they are not prepared for who is standing in their way. The 'Seven Dark Knights' of the Dark Multiverse.

According to VancouverFilm.Net, Season 4 of "The Flash" will showcase the live-action debut of DC Comic's metahuman 'Rebecca Sharpe' aka 'Hazard', played by actress Sugar Lyn Beard:
"...'Rebecca Sharpe' perpetually down-on her luck, is convinced her life is cursed...
"...until a freak accident changes everything.
"With the universe on her side, she poses a threat to both 'Team Flash' and 'Central City'."
Created by Roy Thomas, debuting in DC Comics' "Infinity Inc." #34, Hazard has 'psionic' powers she uses in conjunction with special dice to influence probability.
She can cause good luck or harmful 'accidents' to befall someone. The origin of her powers, nature of her dice, and the relationship between them are unknown. In addition, she keeps herself in good physical condition.
Other DC characters appearing in "the Flash" Season 4 include 'The Elongated Man' (Hartley Sawyer), 'The Thinker' (Neil Sandilands), 'The Mechanic' (Kim Engelbrecht) and 'Breacher' (Danny Trejo).

So it looks like Elongated Man - the lame version of Plastic Man - is going to guest-star on the fourth season of CW's The Flash series. For those unaware, Elongated Man is a Private Investigator named Ralph Dibny who - alongside his wife Sue - solve crimes and stop villains, often alongside The Flash in the comics. 'The Elongated Man', aka 'Ralph Dibny' debuted in DC Comics' "The Flash" Vol. 1, #112 (May 12, 1960), created by writer John Broome and penciler Carmine Infantino, as a detective who loves odd mysteries.

Berlanti Productions recently cast a new ally for Barry Allen on The Flash. Hartley Sawyer will appear as recurring character Ralph Dibney / Elongated Man. As the hero callsign implies, Mr Sawyer’s character will have the superpower of stretching his body into any shape. Unlike Plastic Man, Elongated Man doesn’t actually turn into things, though he does sometimes play as comic relief. In modern era comics, Elongated Man has been written as a private detective, with a superior deductive mind, who travels the Us with his wife in search of strange cases. Duke Thomas had made his debut in DC Comics New 52 Batman #21 during an arc called Zero Year where he assisted Batman. Then during the arc called Endgame, the Joker kidnapped Duke's family and used them to try and recreate Bruce Wayne's parents' murder right in front of him. Batman managed to save Duke, but Duke's parents unfortunately were lost to the Joker's gas. Later he became part of the group of Robins during the time that Bruce Wayne was gone. Eaglemoss, a UK based fan-facing company, is best known for creating detailed replicas of Batmobiles, miniature starships from various incarnations of Star Trek and figurines from the mythologies of Marvel, DC Comics and the Walking Dead. They are all of high quality and lovingly rendered.
Each figure or vehicle they sell comes with a booklet developed by experts in each fan-focused field. So when you buy the miniature replica of the Flying Batcave (if you don’t know what this is you really need to find out fast!) you’ll also get a thorough, yet concise, history of the Flying Batcave.
Given the premium quality of these booklets, it makes sense that Eaglemoss would also be a mindful and creative publisher.

Well, it’s about time. For the last twenty-five years or so, we’ve had one animated Batman series after another but to be honest only two are really good: Batman the Animated Series and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. The latter has been slowly coming out on Blu-Ray with season one in 2013 and season two in 2015. This month, we’re getting the third and final season and the good news is that it is as entertaining as remembered.
After increasingly odd interpretations of Batman, Warner Animation decided to go retro and bring back the Batman of the 1960s, who was not afraid to operate in daylight and would partner with just about anyone in a mask as the need arose. Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium and the man who made science cool, discussed super heroes on his show Star Talk Radio. Which heroes are the most unrealistic and which have some scientific plausibility to them?
It’s not only internet geeks who debate the powers of super heroes. Super heroes are so popular right now that even scientific geniuses like Neil deGrasse Tyson are analyzing how realistic (or unrealistic) comic book heroes are. After a discussion with James Kakalios, author of “The Physics of Super-Heroes”, this is what Tyson came up with.
Batman is probably the most realistic super hero, except for one thing. The number of times he’s been knocked unconscious over the years would have left him seriously brain damaged by now.
Another billionaire super hero, Iron Man, has powers based on real science, such as jet packs, lasers and exo-skeletal armor. However,...

Check out the new clip from tomorrow's Us premiere of Justice League Action. Constantine, Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman arrive at the House of Mystery and they're joined by Green Arrow, Swamp Thing and Plastic Man. Perhaps a team of non super-powered vigilantes like the Dark Knight and Emerald Archer are better suited for the task? We also have these official stills from WB Animation which reveal the Djinn that our heroes will be teaming up to stop. Will you be tuning in to the premiere, tomorrow at 6pm on Cartoon Network? Update: Turns out this is actually unofficial artwork. The first poster for Cartoon Network's Justice League Action featured Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman alongside Firestorm, Green Arrow, Plastic Man, and ... Space Cabbie. That lineup, along with the style of artwork, suggested that the show would be aimed more towards younger viewers. Now, a new promo pic for the show has been released, and the general consensus seems to be that this depiction of The Trinity has been tweaked slightly to appeal to an older demographic. It's hard to imagine the classic Justice League Unlimited series being topped, but Cartoon Network will launch a new 11 minute show revolving around this DC Comics superhero team this Fall. While it appears to be aimed at younger fans, the roster should definitely intrigue fans, especially as four very surprising additions have been made today (as you can see from the promo poster below). Joining Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman will be Green Arrow, Plastic Man, Firestorm, and, er, Space Cabbie. The latter is particularly surprising, but this is a fun and unique mixture for sure. Cartoon Network is developing a new animated series called Justice League Action, and it will reunite Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and Joker. The two actors became legendary as these two DC characters when they starred in the classic 1990s Batman: The Animated Series. How freakin’ cool is it that they'll be working together again?!
Justice League Action will consist of 11-minute episodes just like Teen Titans Go! and this is the synopsis for the new show:

The other day at a comic shop I saw a flier for the upcoming Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat! #1. It was advertised having writer Kate Leth and artist Brittney Williams attached. I think it’s great that the two of them are on this book, as I enjoy the work they’ve put out over at Boom! Studios. However, it did start getting me thinking about the direction the comic industry is going. A direction that it may not want to go in.
We’ve seen the big two added more books with a woman lead. This has been great. A lot of them have at least one woman creator attached as well. We should absolutely be thrilled by that and support those efforts.

One of the things they’ve been doing during this World Series – and every one, really – is comparing them to series contenders of years past. This year, the references to the ’85 Royals and the ’86 Mets have come fast and furious, and while it’s great to talk about Gary Carter, Darryl Strawberry, and Dwight Gooden again, it’s not like anybody under the age of 30 saw them play in their prime. More to the point, no one is becoming a baseball fan today from watching those guys from back then.
Sadly, to me, I think it’s the same with superheroes.
Nobody is becoming a fan of superheroes today if their first exposures are comics from 30+ years ago. I’m not talking about the characters and concepts, I’m speaking only of the works themselves. There are a lot of young kids who fell in love with Supergirl this week,...

Batwoman #39
Written by Marc Andrekyo
Art by Geroges Jeanty
Published by DC Comics
So, Batwoman makes its way into its cancelation. It’s quite the tragedy as the current arc is actually far more compelling and novel than the series has been in a long time. Of course, that’s not going to stop this issue from being another of the book’s many controversies. What has already drawn the malice of the book’s struggling fandom is the return and redemption of Red Alice, Kate Kane’s psychopathic twin sister. Alice is one of Batwoman’s oldest foes, dating all the way back to her first solo outing in Batwoman: Elegy. She’s a major component of Kate’s mythos, and Andrekyo’s decision to turn her into a hero is seen as a betrayal.
Personally, this seems a bit excessive. Villain redemption is one of superhero comics’ oldest...

If you take a look at the top 100 all-time highest worldwide grossing movies, fifteen of them are either Marvel or DC comic adaptations. According to Box Office Mojo the third highest grossing film of all time is The Avengers (2012) at over a billion and a half dollars. Comics, it would seem, are major players in the world of entertainment.
Seventy-five years ago it was all very different. Comics were for children and were disregarded as both an entertainment medium and as an art form. Comics were disposable. Because of their ephemeral nature surviving early copies now trade hands for vast sums.

For today’s comic book readers, there’s an appetite for one flavor of Batman: brooding, angry, single-minded and largely one-dimensional. But for those of an earlier generation where the interpretation of Batman varied by editor and medium, there are other varieties to tickle the fancy and entertain the soul. After years of the unrelentingly grim animated fare, Cartoon Network and Warner Animation came up with a breath of fresh air in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. James Tucker and Michael Jelenic developed this series to mimic the days of Batman being a premier hero and collaborator, operating in a bright, colorful world filled with costumed heroes and crazy villains.
The show lasted three seasons and 65 wonderful episodes and late in 2014, Warner Archive finally released Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Complete Second Season on Blu-ray. There are 26 gloriously goofy half-hour episodes here and they are...

I love the art of animation, and it's amazing to see how far things have come and advanced over the years. The industry is changing in terms of technology, but what it all really comes down to is telling good stories. There's been a lot of great animated movies this year, and many of them are up for several awards at the 40th Annual Annie Awards.
Some of the movies nomainated include Brave, Frankenweenie, Hotel Transylvania, ParaNorman, Rise of the Guardians, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, and Wreck-It Ralph. Out of those films my favorite is a toss up between Wreck-It Ralph and ParaNorman, those were two pretty incredible films. I think ParaNorman has the edge though.
Some of the other animated properties nominated are Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1, Disney Tron: Uprising, Justice League: Doom, Robot Chicken ‘DC Comics Special', South Park ‘Raising the Bar’, and several others.
