A Woman's Desperate Search For Freedom
erie-chapman-360-7981308 November 2022
The Alex Dreaming Series offers this daring 2022 sequel to the groundbreaking 2018 film "Dreams of Drowning." Nina Jane Withers (Jill Webb) and Alex McCloud (Erie Chapman) are star-crossed lovers locked in the grip of water.

Nina Jane is trapped in twin terrors: that she will drown in water or in her relationship with Alex, or both. Can any woman live free with any man?

When Nina Jane disappears off the Yucatán coast, Alex fears the worst. Mexican police report she has drowned but Alex launches a years-long search.

Alex, still desperately in love, is determined to find the truth.

Is Nina Jane seeking to escape by drowning Alex in his grief and her former husband in drugs? Or has she escaped her old identity to find a new one?

The original script for this award-winning film was written and co-directed by Jill Webb with Erie Chapman. It is narrated by renown spoken word artist Minton Sparks with new narration from Chapman who added footage to reflect Nina Jane's disappearance.

Webb's original script dramatizes anxieties women face of drowning in relationships with men. She also strikes the theme that women engage nudity as a power to control men.

Portrayals of her 105 year old grandmother's fear of drowning reinforce Nina Jane's worries and lay the groundwork for salvation: that women need to "save each other."

Webb's script suggests women can transcend old fears by breaking free of men and build new strength from old wounds.
