A solid series finale.

Mike buys a bear, which upsets Robin, and a fire breaks out.

Pretty good this one, a few laughs, most of which come from the stuffed bear, and an occurrence which means a change to the setup going forward, overall it's a humorous end to series four.

Julian once again was happy to help, and shows a nicer side, he was funny though. Best of all though was getting to see Robin centre stage, and learning a little about his character, his past, his fear of bears.

Vegan jokes again, I defy anyone to tell me that vegan eggs are even the slightest bid edible. It was nice to see it being a little more daring.

Series four overall hasn't been vintage, but I'd argue that this was one of its better episodes, I see no decision has yet been made about series five, but I hope it materialises, maybe with a replacement for Mary.

Pretty good, 7/10.

Warning: Spoilers
Well, sadly this is the final episode of Ghosts this season. They set the stage for something different should the show come back for me, or for this to be the end if it is. Certainly hope we get more.

It felt a little bit tacky at times with adults bickering over a bear, but in the end had the sweet reunion of Mike and Alison that has happened so many times throughout the show's run.

Not a particularly strong finale, but overall this was a decent enough season. Four series is a lot for most comedies this day so I guess we just have to appreciate that we got as many episodes of Ghost as we did.

Season Four Review

Generally, despite its genial nature, I've enjoyed BBC's "Ghosts" sitcom, from the team behind Horrible Histories. It's more of the same for this fourth season, though I do wonder if perhaps we've wringed all there is to get out of the premise now.

With the Hotel idea still a while away, Alison (Charlotte Ritchie) and Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe) decide to test the water by opening the gate house as a bed and breakfast. They start to obsess about getting a five-star rating for the venture, which increases Alison's stress levels, which are already high from dealing with the ghost's various demands. The ghosts obsess over the discovery of a new ghost, on neighbouring land but are shocked when one of their number passes over.

I've said in previous reviews of "Ghost" that the second season was a marked improvement over the perfectly acceptable first run. I thought the third season couldn't quite match that second, certainly not for pathos. This fourth run is about par with the third. Generally it's the season long story of the B&B that dominates the plot but there are, as usual, odd episodes which focus is given to the back story of one of the ghosts, this time it's Katy Wix's Mary and Laurence Rickard's Robin who get the focus. It's the same mildly amusing stuff that has proved so successful over the last few years.

As I say though, I just wonder if we might have mined this idea for all that it has to offer. A few of the plot episodes seemed similar to ones that we've seen before and maybe we've seen these characters do everything that they can do. The departure of one of the main cast might be a because of this lack of ongoing character development, or it might just be that the actress has something else on. But I can't help and think that trying to shake up the show a little might have had something to do with it.

I'll watch season five, but I'm genuinely worried about deprecating returns from here on out.

Is this the end of Button House? The ghosts watch something going up in blazes.

A flashback sees Mike and Alice bickering. He has purchased a real life bear for the guest house. Alice things it is tacky.

Caveman Robin is upset. The bear in the house brings him nightmarish reminders of being chased by bears in prehistoric times. Fears Robin thinks he needs to conquer.

It is a case of what caused the fire and there are a lot of incidents that might have started it.

What was certainly on fire were the ghosts making jokes about vegan food. The slop produced masquerading as a vegan alternatives was really a case of nightmares. Yuk.
