Solid episode.
maciej-furst8 February 2024
While this episode is more on the slower part, in no way is it it's downfall. This is because the writers are competent and know how to build intrigue and curiosity into the show while also display a level of understanding humanity, pain and trauma, and not in the "i'm going to cry about everything and be depressed" way but more in the way that "I have this pain, I have this trauma, I need to deal with it like an adult" way. Which makes this show far more mature and interesting to watch rather than the high school drama they did in season 1, changing the writers from season 1 to season 2 was definitely the right call. None the less, I found my self enjoying this episode and enjoying the dialogue and stories that come with it. Good job.

Meh

Warning: Spoilers
It really is a 6.5 but I can't give it a 7. The first episode wa s a big step up but this was definitely way slower and were focusing on way to many plots that no one cares about. This show could actually improve grately if they just focused on chief and the war and ditched quan, let maquee stay dead and just focus on the war like the games. You can have interactions with rebels and people from other Spartans but stop it's like anytime the show seems to be progressing they have to cut away to the rebel storyline. Episode 1 was far better because it was mainly all chief and silver team but episode 2 takes everything bad that episode 1 had and added more of the storylines we have been complaining about. It's a simple fix for season 3 because I can garuntee it'll get one. Focus on Halo combat evolved make it shorter if u need to (1 or 2 less episodes) and re tell the story from the games allow these 2 seasons as a build up of chiefs character so that way we can get to the grit of the war and I garuntee everyone will love it because the formula has already been done you just have to follow it.

Incredibly boring.
Arch-Carl9 February 2024
Sigh let's all spend lot time standing around talking and doing nothing and with master chief wannabe constantly without helmet on because that's what everyone wants to see. (No it isn't by the way.) This is just like season 1 honestly I don't understand 8 or 10 people giving to this or when say its so better sorry I just don't.

Also can please stop with the bad camera works jumpy shaky and too fast moving around is so hard to hold camera still and in way can see and enjoy action.

Also why have made cortana the a.i. Ugly even in season one at least she looked decent.

Only good part of this really was last minute maybe of episode.

Very good.
chiefspartanfan9978 February 2024
After an intense first episode, the second episode dives deeper into showing the world people live in. This was missing in the first season, which is why the events seemed cardboard at some points, and because of the death of the characters, I didn't want to worry about it again.

I hope there will be even less of Kwang Ha in the future, but I can say that she is much less annoying this time. Pablo Schreiber is as good as he was in the first episode. His John-117 is revealed from different sides. And it's great that Lt. Perez exists now, they have great chemistry. It will be interesting to see where this leads. I hope episode 4 is truly amazing. Because it is clear that the third will be preparation before the real storm.

People gonna hate
kyleaustad15 February 2024
It's a separate canon from the games and season 2 gets a solid foundation for better writing, character development and condensing plots from season 1 with a bang here.

It seems to have a conscious decision to rework characters to be more in line and the new character Perez has excellent appeal in my opinion. In a TV show, Halo can't be non stop combat like the games and season one faltered in frankly absurd takes on the universe and characters where so far season 2 seems to handle them in a more enjoyable way as well as having moments of story development that don't completely throw established characters and world building out the window.

GET RID OF KWAN HA
Valkonian7 March 2024
For the love of God get rid of this awful character Kwan Ha

She absolutely adds no value to the show and is an awful actress. It's really to a point where it's irritating to watch her scenes and I just turn away while she is on the screen.

For an otherwise amazing show that I really love they are ruining it with putting in just awful characters.

Season 2 is starting off good otherwise, first episode was really good and this second good as well. I played all the games so I am enjoying this story.

By the way this new guy running the show, Ackerson is a real prick wow. Let's hope a real dose of reality eventually slaps him in the face.

Continues to make the same mistakes
blobby-5202413 February 2024
Decent acting, good effects, and great sets.. let down by the most brain dead writing you have been made to watch. The Halo series has so much to offer, the battle of good and evil, the deception by the UNSC, ONI, the epic battles and they waste it with a poorly introduced new character the entire comuity was very clearly against (look at ratings for S1 ep 7). I had hopes they would touch on more of the background behind the halos, more insight into the monitors, the destruction of the galaxy before or the fall of Reach etc. But afraid not. Its not even too dialogue heavy, as that wouldn't be too bad.. but what little there is doesn't work.

My biggest bug bear is the fact the new commander doesn't believe cheif... like dude look at the helmet cam!! It's the gd 26th century! Anyway yeah, worth watching but brace for disappointment.

Keeps focusing on the wrong elements
tomiobi14 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The main plot of this season, although cliche, is much more engaging than the side-plots of Kwan Ha and the Rubble. We learned this in Season 1, yet the same nonsense persists in Season 2.

Okay, so let's accept that the side plots aren't going anywhere. Why is the writing so predictable? It's obvious that Kessler is gifted in the same way that John and Makee are. It's obvious that Halsey is going to make a comeback. It's obvious that Kwan Ha is being setup to be some sort of surprise hero.

We see the same formula in other sci-fi shows so where is the value in Halo?

This episode wastes too much valuable time with filler side stories and those stories are far too predictable.

more boring side stories
Lythas_8518 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Why are we still focused on the asian chick and the bounty hunter guy? What are they doing again? I always skip every time they are on screen

dude, it is funny katie kennedy's character always second guessing master chief.. does she understand hierarchy?

It is funny it is always her and not the other 2 doing it lol.

The problem with the show is the useless drama and side stories that dont add anything to the main plot.. the woman from californication being trapped somewhere and talking to klaus.. ok it makes sense to further his hidden agenda.. it is ok

but the bounty hunter and the asian chick.. why her again.. my God...

they made the mistake of killing johns sister off the end of the previous season.. now we just d ont have anything happening at all.. and the monster situation is just something in the background that may happen and people dont reallu care about and are ignoring.

Ohh yeah.. sister wasnt dead after all.. but my god.. it is all over the place..

Poor Writing in this Season 2
valdemir-fernandes10 February 2024
Episode 2 of Season 2 is really boring.

The new boss is laughing too much. A cliché character who everybody lnows from the start that he will a 'villain''.

What is happening with the writerss of the TV Shows recently. Halo is no different from The Masters of the Air.

Very good CGI but bad writing.

In this episode there is a blind man who is training one the soldiers.

With so much advance in technology shown at this time of the show , why is there blind peoople still?

Master Chief seems to be stuck in his character development. They will need one more season to work on this?

I hope they improve the writing for the next episodes and also brighten up the cinematography.

Most of the scenes are dark and it is difficult to follow.

Why are people treating this as a step up from the last season?
omnicognate8 February 2024
So far this season hasn't been any better than the last, it suffers from the same problems, mostly being that this has almost nothing to do with the actual story of Halo. Or how most of the show seems to be how John feels sad for no real reason, or the asinine reason that the seem to think they need to invent human villains for a storyline where they're being attacked by an infinitely stronger alien enemy.

This could easily be any generic mid sci-fi show, they just spent a fortune on buying the Halo IP to slap onto it so that people would bother watching it... it's really disappointing, this could've been so much more.

WHY?
tdsearles258 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Why are we focusing so hard on Master Chiefs mental and emotional wellness? I understand this formula can be effective at times in the past. The lost identity/lost memory/sanity/grip on reality has been seen since Jason Bourne, the Matrix and many others.

But with who Master Chief is and the vast lore of Halo, this approach just doesn't fit and so much screen time is wasted on this. Master Chief is the rock. He is the legend. And he has been so disrespectfully reduced here.

Instead of exploring the Covenant, the Flood, or the HALO's, the Spartans; we dabble in all the things fans are NOT here to see and introduce a new bad guy Ackerson that's completely unnecessary! There are plenty of enemies in the Halo universe without needed to create a new one.

We got a few good actions scenes that give the series some hope but they quickly need to change the focus of where this is headed or there will not be enough viewers left for a season 3.

Focus on the spartans
dimitri_jason10 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The only interesting part is whenever it sticks to the spartans . Should keep em suited up and moving . It's getting slow with extra characters ,politics ,slow and not necessary character development, should stick to being a great action sci-fi like the games ,ditch all the rest. Also the ending of the episode ... Guy sends in the darkness with no flashlights 2 squads to die before dying himself. Very stupid writing , canot suspend disbelief when it's so poorly written. Pirate planet what is that all about, who cares . Why waste time with extra characters. If they want to do that make spin off series in the universe on how peoples lives were affected or whatever during the covenant halo wars.

Episode 202
bobcobb30123 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I guess this may have been better than the season premiere, but I am not even sure of that.

The scenes with the Spartans doing their training and working together and having a laugh, that felt real and good. That is the kind of dynamic that made shows like Yellowstone with the ranchers and army dramas over the years connect with the audience.

But there's just not a lot of drama going on. We had a shocking end to what was in store for Dr. Halsey in Season 1 and they immediately killed any interest we may have in that character moving forward.

I am just not picking up what this show is putting down right now.
