I commented the BRAQUO season 1, three years ago, so I can't comment this title again. But I have something to tell about the second season.

First, I find here a sort of wint to Jean-Pierre Melville's world, in the sequence during the first or second - or even third - episode. I don't remember exactly, so far I watched them in a row....

The scene where Caplan - Anglade - character talks with the mercenary and invits him to hide in a car trunk. The sequence takes place right in the middle of the country side. We of course think of LE CERCLE ROUGE, where Alain Delon is dealing with Gian Maria Volonte. And the relationship between these two men, when Caplan promises to take care of the mercenary's sister, if anything could happen to him.

Melville...

In second, many subplots are pretty hard to follow, but so exciting too. The overall editing is sharp as a knife. A Bowie knife. A pure masterpiece. The main drawbacks are dialogues. I think they seem not always appropriate.

Third, François Levantal is the most outstanding character of the second season. He gives here a very impressive performance, as a lost soldier, rough, tough, hard with himself as with the others. A lost soldier who only believes in his lost honour.

Fourth, the action sequences are absolutely terrific. At the same level as the famous HEAT scenes, during the bank robbery, that every movie buff knows.

Fifth, I regret the true motivations of the leads: the cops. It would have been great if they were only renegade cops, and not only good cops on the edge, cops in search of a sort of redemption.

Yes, I regret this.

But it remains at a million miles from the usual TF1 garbage channel crap.

I'd also like to add that love affairs have NOTHING to do in such story. It's a MAN' tale, and it should have remained this way.

Unfortunately, in order to enhance the audiences...
