Arguably The Best Episode Of The Season
quinnwalton-4317623 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Despite what many people say, this was arguably the best episode of the season. It was either this one or the John Mulaney one. It had many things that made it so great. First of all, Natasha Lyonne was hysterical in her "Saturday Night Live" hosting debut. Kudos to her for barely ever breaking any in the episode because it wouldn't have taken long for me to break. We got to see the grand return of Ms. Rafferty (who is sadly no longer with us). Natasha's monologue was hilarious yet very genuine and honest, which I deeply appreciated. Natasha cracked me up in that baseball sketch, but I'd have to say what made me laugh the most was the "Mr. Dooley" sketch. It was nice to see Fred and Maya make cameos too. With all due respect, I'm happy to see my least favorite cast member Kyle Mooney leave and I'm fine with Pete Davidson's departure, but I was sad to see Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon leave (especially the latter). However, it was nice to see Kate get the epic sendoff she deserved! She will be greatly missed! Overall, it was a great episode!

Kate McKinnon was amazing
rhviorel8 November 2022
I found the opening of Kate amazing. That was very funny. The wonder-where joke was something new I never heard before and it got me laughing for a while there. I think she is a good actress and this role was very good and funny.

Great opening of the final episode of the season. I hope in the future HBO will show the next season as well. It's a good show to watch and relax after a long day just trying to forget the day at the office and just laugh.

SNL is a unique show and you have to understand how difficult it must be to do every scene live. You can not have any mistakes.

Keep it up SNL and crew. Keep it up Kate McKinnon!

THIS was the season finale?
Top_Dawg_Critic22 May 2022
A) so how is it May 28 Kardashian is hosting, or is that a rerun and a lame attempt to bring back the audience after such a lame finale? B) This has to be one of the worst episodes I've ever seen. Zero laughter (I didn't even crack a smile), zero attempt at actual humor, and all the skits were boring af to the point of cringeworthy. I'd rather seen the best past skits of all the talent that's leaving SNL (e.g. All the Chad skits from Pete Davidson), and the departing cast were probably the funniest, so if it ended this bad, Lorne better hire some better writers if he doesn't want SNL to fade away into a flop, and retain what good talent he has left. I really wish they'd bring back Mad TV, that show was always funnier than SNL.

Really, SNL?
evolangel20622 May 2022
For a season finale - what a DISAPPOINTMENT - and overall, Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson deserve a better sendoff. The ENTIRE episode of sketches were so disappointedly lame, boring, and predictable that I found myself ending Saturday with a sad feeling instead of my normal content or satisfied disposition.

The only funny " " sketch was the recurring "Guy who just bought a boat" skit - and I had to dig for those mini chuckles. Also super mid was the Weekend Update with a letdown of no usual end of season 'joke swap' between Colin & Che. Gosh dang it I miss the late 90s early 2k SNL cast & writers! Praying (but not hard) for a robust comeback for season 48...maybe this will be the year they get it right, again. Otherwise I might have to just quit you SNL. There's a lot of streaming in the sea. Hoping that's not the case since SNL has been a part of my life since I was a child & would sneak out to living room to watch it.

CRACKED: Every Which Way Except Funny
yohnny22 May 2022
Alex Moffat's "Guy Who Just Bought a Boat" character with his pretentious The Hampton's air of superiority and risque rapid-fire double intendres is always an amusing bit. Too goofy to be vulgar, Alex has created a believable snob braggadocio. Hilarious!

Not being familiar with the career of Natasha Lyonne and going only on first impression, I anticipated a streetwise, smoking, drinking, maybe gum-chewing, wisecracking New York City broad somewhat comparable to Leah Remini. Instead, she was cast as an assortment of unappealing and forgettable characters with not much to do or say.

Japanese Breakfast has got to be one of the most boring groups ever to occupy the "SNL" stage.

Jost and Che are unlikely to have bright futures in the entertainment industry.

The alien abductee group therapy meeting was funny the first couple of times. Tonight's version, albeit a vocabulary builder, seemed more like a desperate cry for help than a comedy sketch.

Pete's finale typical of his SNL career
rmmil22 May 2022
Bit of SNL trivia: When it comes to the weekly sketches, who is cast in each skit is up to the writer of it, so if, say, Aidy Bryant gets a sketch on air, she'll probably cast her friends in it. Hence why you see a lot of sketches with people who are friends in real life in them.

You didn't see Pete Davidson in any sketches because the cast didn't want you to. It's obvious that the cast felt abandoned by Pete, it's his very last episode and he didn't get cast in a single sketch. Not even pre-recorded content. The "Prom Night" sketch in particular had every single cast member except Pete.

It's telling that Pete's only bit the entire episode was a 3 minute weekend update segment, care of one of his only 2 friends left on the show, Colin (the other being Lorne Michaels). Notice how Pete only thanked Lorne? Not the cast he worked with for multiple years, or writers, or crew who put up with him.

A 3 minute whine fest, a very fitting end to a very lackluster SNL career.

Well, at at least Kate's last opening hit the spot
lotekguy-122 May 2022
Admittedly, SNL has been generally limping to the finish line this season, but Kate McKinnon's abduction accounts have been among the most consistently hilarious recurring sketches in the history of the show, rivalling the likes of Roseanne Rosannadanna, Stefon, Church Lady, Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood and other faves. This over-the-top farewell to her beleaguered character provided a fine swan song for one of SNL's brightest lights of the last decade. Thanks, Kate, and best wishes for a long, successful future.

The worst...
muveme23 May 2022
I've been watching SNL forever. This was the worst show I've ever seen. It was a waste of my time. I like the people who are leaving but the skits were vulgar and not funny. There are characters who are good but they end up becoming so vulgar, in-your-face crude, that I had trouble even watching. I fast-forwarded through the musical guest and some of the sketches. Weekend Update was even a trainwreck and I usually love them. Where is the subtle, funny, dry, tolerably offensive quality writing? Did you do this on purpose? I hope this is not representative of the younger generation or we are in deeper trouble than I thought. The worst.

Terrible finale
mgentalen22 May 2022
I love Saturday Night Live, but, the show is only as strong as their host is. Last weekend's show with Selena was an A+ telecast, last night huge turn for the worst.

I normally do not feel this while watching SNL, but every sketch I found myself thinking of other things and wondering when the bit would be over. I wasn't really familiar with Lyonne's resume, but found her really annoying. Again, SNL is dependent solely on the body of work the guest has to offer.

For a episode loosing four cast members, there was no " good bye" at good nights. Maybe in addition to loosing cast, can we loose some writers as well? I felt really let down watching this.
