The upturn in quality continues.

Desperate to get hold of the gold, Olivia hatches plans to deal with both Tom and Ryan Savage. Izzy and Tom deal with Birdy's death in their own ways.

It definitely improved in the previous episode, and I feel that improvement carries over here too. Initially I felt like it wanted to be Line of Duty, here though I feel as though it's found its feet, an identity of its own.

Nesbitt continues to impress, I like Tom, he's like The BBC equivalent of Bancroft, he's definitely going to come unstuck one day. Smurfit continues to be wonderful too, she has such presence.

I think we are all waiting for the eventual showdown between Tom and Ryan Savage, it's going to be explosive hopefully, and I'm predicting now that Izzy is going to get caught in the crossfire.

Hard to fault, 8/10.

Episode 5

Olivia Foyle is cunning and seemingly in control. She is setting up both Tom Brannick and Ryan Savage and pit them both against each other.

Tom recognises that Olivia is greedy. He knows that Birdy is not her first kill. She got rid of her husband, maybe because he wanted to reunite the gold bullion with its rightful owners.

However Tom is not only under pressure because Olivia has the goods on him. Birdy is a missing police officer, feared to be dead.

His daughter confides to Tom about her relationship with Birdy.

Ryan Savage shows Olivia just who is in control. Maybe she is going to lose hold of that gold after all.

James Nesbitt did well in displaying Tom's vulnerable side as he consoles his daughter. Once again Victoria Smurfit steals ths how as the icy femme fatale.

Although it seems that Olivia is now on the ropes as the series heads to its finale.
