I'm really surprised that the host of the show misrepresented the car, which was a 1957 Desoto Golden Adventurer convertible. The only paint colors that were offered for this model in 1957 were comprised of combinations of Black, White, and Metallic Gold. The car shown had an ugly light yellow paint where metallic gold should be, and the host represented the car as having 265 horsepower. In actuality, the engine for this model was a 345 cubic inch hemi V8 that produced 345 horsepower with twin four-barrel carburetors as standard. This was one horsepower per cubic inch, for which the 1957 Chevrolet also claimed with its special 283 V8 equipped with fuel-injection and a Duntov cam shaft.
