Dated Short Comedy by the Sad Faced Clown

Saw this film online and it is definitely dated and formulaic for its time. There is plenty of stereotypes, such as having actor, Fred 'Snowflake' Toones reading a book on 365 ways to make fried chicken (ouch). The plots are quite similar in Harry Langdon shorts. The typical short of his will have mistaken identity, getting lost and turned around, police involvement and then rushing late to his own wedding. Most of this happened and it was entirely predictable. Also, this is done in a quite haphazard way and none too believable. Harry tries gallantly to make this work, but it is definitely a tired old formula. Only for Langdon buffs is my recommendation.

Some Good Langdon Jokes Brighten This Short Comedy

Harry Langdon is to be married this morning, and buddy Monte Collins doesn't want it to come off; Harry's prospective father-in-law has told him that if he gets one more traffic ticket, Harry can't marry his daughter. So Collins contrives to make sure he does.

Peculiarly, this movie was produced by B. F. Goodrich, the tire company, and sent to theaters with a quiz about how many crimes Harry commits in the movie. Tire companies have long sponsored road safety, so their sponsorship of this movie is not odd. It does raise the puzzling and persnickety question of whether that makes it an industrial film.

It's a brightly done short subject, with some nice Harry Langdon touches, particularly the matter of the fourth hat. If you don't understand that reference, it's because I don't wish to give away a good joke.
