This show does a somewhat decent job of capturing what it is like to live in NYC these days, but then they go and give us absurdly unbelievable storylines like Val not being able to break off an engagement with a college student she does not even like. Even me writing that sentence is difficult so I can't even imagine how they could feel that was a good concept for viewers.
The show is almost always an easy watch every week, but this was definitely not that tonight. They didn't even do a good job hitting home the emotional moment of Val's parents talking about how they resolved their argument over how many kids to have.
