This was the best episode of the show so far. There was a returning character from HIMYM but they added his scene in so we'll and had him connect well with Sophie. This episode feels like the beginning of where it will become it's own show instead of being compared to HIMYM. There were many good storylines coming out in this episode and I felt more connected to the characters than I have in the last season and a half. I hope that people begin to stop judging this show so harshly after this episode and begin to see it as it's own. I'm very excited to see character growth and what's to come in the rest of the season (and hopefully more)

At least How I Met Your Father listened to its fans and addressed a theory head-on that people would have had for a long time had it not been the case and that was that there was some sort of connection between Barney and Sophie. Thankfully no, but getting that discussion out of the way now was smart.
But this was not a good mid-season finale by any means. Almost nothing was given from a storytelling perspective or meaty scene content for the rest of the cast outside of Sophie.
I am glad we still a multi-cam show on the airwaves (or streaming platforms) but I feel like we deserve better than this.

A Realistic Review Of The 11th Episode (The Mid-season Finale)

It's always good to see Barney!
While the other friends are in the bar having a lost and found box day, Sid goes to give Hannah a visit and Sophie's out with Robert and Barney.
To me, Valentina is not really likeable. She is mean, too(x15!)oo confident, manipulative and a bad person among the main characters. This time it was poor Jesse's turn to deal with her! It's like the writers want us to not like Valentina!
Barney was Barney and that was the most important thing that I cared about because they mustn't hurt The Himym and its legacy and they didn't. So we got to enjoy another episode with him being around which was "AWESOME"!
By the way, I really liked how the pictures of Barney's daughter are the pictures of his real life daughter! It's sweet and shows how Neil Patrick Harris loves Himym on a personal level.

They could have just made him older & wiser like a an old mystic that's learned from his past crazyness but no they had to Ruin the Legen wait for it Dary Barney Stinson. Electro shock ? Really, this does not go with the Bro code. He's still funny but it doesn't go with the Barney ethos
Bring back Barney Stinson properly make it all a cheesy pick up lie or something. It's like the Stripper's in American pie the wedding he should not break character LoL.
Barney is an amazing character & some of the ridiculous ways he approaches life was insane but very helpful especially the "Have you met Ted" when you wanted to help a friend or yourself.

Still waiting for an original plotline

I tried to like this show, I really did. But all it has done is re-hash every plot line from HIMYM. Trying to find a long lost dad...sound familiar? A mom who slept around..sound familiar? A break up because one partner never wants to have kids...sound familiar? Do I need to go one? Still waiting for the writers of this show to have a single original thought. The return of Barney was cool, although they could have done it better. This show is a mishmash of all of the old episodes of the original, but with bland characters, and actors who have no personality or comic timing at all. When/if they finally reveal the dad, they'll probably just kill him off.
