Haters gonna hate

Second season of HIMYF started great but it's getting amazing each week ! Last episode was so good and hilarious all the story lines were on point, more flashbacks and easter eggs. I found myself laughting SO hard at escenes like Sophie and Val dating the same guy In college or Charlie flashback In his previous wealty life. Sid and Hanna are just adorable, and the story of how they get together at that party was SO funny, the dance part with Drew lmao. Hoping Josh Peck become regular cause he is talented and multicamera format it's his place. Even when haters wanna end this sitcom I'm pretty sure they are goint to renew this for third season.

I love the silly, physical and parodic comedy between Sophie and Val, like in this episode the scene where they say Svalentines Day together; this energic while light and delightful humor is lovely and heartwarming to me.

The fact that they took a Lizzie McGuire clip to represent a 13 year old Sophie memory is so satisfactory, I'm gonna guess not only to me but to the generation that grew up watching and loving Lizzie McGuire. I'm not a first row fan of HIMYM so I don't really get excited with the clips where they bring the cast of the mother series, but I guess my excitement regarding this "annex" is comparable to that of the HIMYM fans.

Tom Ansley as Charlie does an amazing job, he has that rhythm or understanding of intonations and pauses regarding comedy which I think is fundamental for sitcoms and reminds me of arguably the best sitcom at least by cultural popularity, Friends, where the cast hits the notes so perfectly that a line becomes a joke by how it is performed. Obviously you are limited to what is on script but the basis of this art form, I think is there.

On another hand how his character is written seems perfectly fitting for the group dynamic, he really fills a need which I didn't know there was, by being such a good sport, with an innocent take and a pure heart that brings the group together in a much more family like bond.

I gave it a ten because until now I have watched all episodes in one sitting and I feel engaged, uplifted, invested in these characters, I have enjoyed the episodes even when its about a core message which gives depth and purpose to the series.

Episode 207

I had hope for How I Met Your Father based on how the second season was starting, but it feels like it is reverting back to the mean a little bit and just giving us the same old same old.

"A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Valentine's Day" feels like such a generic sitcom title playing off that famous literature phrase and they gave us an episode that corresponded to it. I do like them having the whole gang in the bar and not really venturing out. Bottle episodes can be effective from time to time, but unfortunately the material was simply not there. And they keep having the awful Josh Peck in the fold for some reason.

Val really ruins the show

In this episode I've noticed something fascinating. The first 10 minutes were so bad that I honestly couldn't finish the episode. So I stopped and watch the other half the next day.

The second part of the episode was actually decent! So the obvious conclusion is that Val ruined the episode for the most part. We all already knew that she's pretty terrible. To make matters even more disappointing, Sophie's character seems to deteriorate whenever she's sharing a scene with Val. Although the protagonist doesn't stand out as great, things get even worse when she's paired up with her best friend.

Once again, Charlie steals the show, even if the script makes everyone else try to stop him. There were also some good jokes with Jesse saying 'I love you' to everyone. Ted vibes.

That's why I give a 2/10 for the first part and a 7/10 for the second one. Taking into account some indulgence, my overall rating for the episode would be 5 out of 10.
