Director/writer: Matt L. Lockhart. Cast: Jason Mewes, Richard Riehle, Floyd Abel, Blakely Bunnell, Scott Davis, Joy Glass, Luke Guldan, Tara Heston, Tyler Johnson, Joe Monds, and Ashley Myers. Tagline: "In the middle of the ocean, there's nowhere to run." The Watermen is a smallish horror film from first time feature film director Matt L. Lockhart. This film notably stars Jason Mewes (Clerks) and Richard Riehle (Chillerama) in what can be considered a floundering serial killer film. The acting, soundtrack and story are lackluster. Only the shooting style stands out and The Watermen should stay in the deep where it belongs. The film's story is very flimsy. Some mumbling fishermen chase, capture and kill residents to create the best bait in the area. This seems like a very hard way to make very little money. Yet, the Cajun sounding killers set their eyes on six friends. These friends are on...

The Watermen
Stars: Jason Mewes, Richard Riehle, Luke Guldan, Tyler Johnson, Tara Heston | Written and Directed by Matt L. Lockhart
The Watermen is a stereotypical, cliche-filled sea-set slasher that felt like it had been penned by someone who had watched way too many classic 80s slasher movies… The story follows a group of obnoxious teens, including one Mr. Jason Mewes channeling his inner black-rapper, who set off on a boat trip and get caught up (literally) by a bunch of freakish fishermen whose chum of choice is ground-up human!
“A group of hot, rich, young things led by the dynamic Trailor (Mewes) set out for a deep-sea fishing trip on a million-dollar yacht, but soon their fun turns into disaster when a fire damages their engine and they find themselves marooned in the middle of the ocean. Spotting a ship on the horizon they alert them to their distress and are rescued,...

For those of you who like concise reviews without frills or spoilers then I will give you my opinion upfront so as to not waste your time as my time has been wasted. You do not have to see this movie unless you’re looking for a slightly new derivative of the “captured and tortured twenty something” picture. The film doesn’t bring anything to the table that you haven’t seen elsewhere. The end.
Now for the full frontal review with all the good bits. I’m not talking about boobies here although you might find a set or two in the movie worth noting. The Watermen takes place on the high seas following sports fisherman out and about on fishing trip who decide to get nosey and snoop in a crab fisherman’s crab cage only to discover a human arm. The fishermen realize they may have stumbled...

Faces In The Crowd
Stars: Milla Jovovich, Sarah Wayne Callies, Julian McMahon, Michael Shanks, Marianne Faithfull | Written and Directed by Julien Magnat
Giallo wannabe Faces in the Crowd stars Milla Jovovich – for once taking a break from either a) killing zombies and b) working with her husband – as Anna Marchant, a woman who witnesses a murder by the serial killer dubbed Tearjerker Jack. When Jack turns on Anna she manages to escape by falling off a bridge and banging her head – an injury which causes her to come down with a case of prosopagnosia, aka ”face-blindness.” Which means Anna cannot recognise her attacker, her husband, her friends, or anyone else for that matter, thanks to her new found inability to remember or identify faces…
Re-read that opening line again. Did you think I meant giallo “genre” wannabe? No, I meant Giallo as in the laughable recent filmic offering from Dario Argento,...

That big evil entity, that sworn enemy for life of the horror genre known as the MPAA just handed back their verdict as to what ratings a wide variety of horror films have received. We have stuff in the vein of The Blair Witch Project in the form of "Evil Things". We have another horror film from the recently revamped Hammer Films entitled Wake Wood. We have yet another horror film featuring funnyman Jason Mewes in "The Waterman". And we have zombie expert George A. Romero taking another stab at the anthology format.
Evil Things is rated R for language.
The Watermen is rated R for strong bloody violence including rape, gruesome images, nudity, language and brief drug use.
Wake Wood is Rated R for bloody violence including disturbing images, and brief sexuality.
George Romero's Deadtime Stories is rated R for bloody horror violence and some nudity.

You know, Silent Bob never found himself in this kind of shit. Since leaving his quiet and portly friend, Jay (or Jason Mewes) has embarked on a journey through the indie side of horror filmmaking, and we've got the trailer for his next terror-filled outing.
The Watermen, directed by Matt Lockhart, stars Mewes along with Richard Riehle, Tara Heston, and Joy Glass. Though details are indeed on the scant side of the fence, the film has promised to be an action-packed suspense/horror film.
Look for more on this flick, which tells the tale of a clan of watermen who capture a crew of sport fishermen who must then fight for their lives, as soon as we get it.
In the interim dig on the goods below.

House Hunting stars Marc Singer (Beastmaster, TV series V), Art Lafleur (Field of Dreams , The Sandlot), Hayley DuMond (Hunter’s Moon), Paul McGill (Fame, Man on Wire), Jamee Vance, Janey Gioiosa and Rebekah Kennedy.
