Another disappointing episode
qfwbzdj27 April 2022
Very sad to watch the show plummet in quality. They must have different writers -- there's no other way to explain why everything just feels like it's slapped together, Storylines are lame, there is forced drama over trivial situations to engineer faux crises, and I'm starting to realize Elizabeth is never going to see that Nathan is her true love.

Bland & boring.

Hope Valley Days were so wonderful!
pma-6281425 April 2022
I thoroughly enjoyed both parts of Hope Valley Days! It really brought the community together to celebrate several holidays, and each were special in their own unique way! Tonight's episode was so heartwarming, funny and romance was in the air! I loved the sweet moments between Lucas and Elizabeth and Jack was so funny and endearing. It certainly appears that Nathan is quite smitten with Mei. The costumes that Rosemary and Lee wore in both episodes were adorable and so well-made! The Thanksgiving dinner was extra special and Bill's "April Fool's" was exceptional for all of Hope Valley's residents. Very well done!!!

Wow...this episode was jam packed with feel goods...and that "what the heck" kiss...amazing. Wonderful to see the caring relationships between all the characters. When calls the heart just keeps getting better and better.

My favorite episode so far this year!
austenpride25 April 2022
I won't give spoilers, but this show had so many heartwarming moments!! The hour passed by so quickly, and I didn't want it to end. There was something for everyone in this episode, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a feel good show.

A great episode.

This was one of my favorite episodes. We had more Lucas and Elizabeth with loving and cute scenes. They make me smile. LJ was in this episode. We saw closure to a few storylines. It was a great show.

Still lacking
Arnie-130073 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Thank you to IMDB for allowing us a platform to express our opinions, each person has an different opinion and the right to express it. Thank you for allowing it, even the opinions of fans who don't agree with all the unrealistic 10s that seem so over the top, about this show. Thank you IMDB for giving everyone, including faithful fans/hearties that are disappointed in the show, a voice. It is much appreciated.

In my opinion, this was the best episode so far in S9. Because of a few outstanding characters, and not the writing. The writing is still horribly lacking, those episode was better.

Nathan was exceptional, Kevin McGarry's acting chops are off the hook. His face alone, his expressions, his eyes, convey so much. From confusion, to taking a stand, to helping a friend, then helping another friend, to receiving a thank you. We. Felt. It. All.

Bill was so funny, and Jack Wagner exceptional this episode. I laughed out loud for the first time this season, when he was slurring in the jail. He killed it. And the Christmas tree at the end was just "like" him. It was so nice to see everyone gathered there. A touching moment reminiscent of the good ole days, when the show was heartwarming at every turn.

Basically, the jail is where it's at. The best scenes of this episode happened in the jail! Bill, Mei, Nathan, they were all great. And loved Nathan taking care of Bill, and Mei, for that matter. And her thank you was so wonderful. I think, in that moment, he was proud to be a Mountie. In fact, knowing Nathan, it's probably the little victories like these, that inspired him to become a Mountie in the first place. Finally a little joy for the guy whose been the punching bag since S8E2. He deserved to smile, and we loved seeing that smile. Finally.

Jaeda Lily Miller was wonderful as usual as Allie. Can't say enough good things about her acting chops. And she's so grown up and beautiful now. Kudos to costuming, that olive green dress at the end for the photo shoot was just lovely on her.

Erin Krakow plays crazy so well, and in this episode, her character went from manipulative, to pushy, to bossy, from one minute to the next, and then well, as usual, she butted her way into other people's business. But I loved the way Nathan stood his ground with her and shut her down this time, when she came hunting for him. He had his boundary in place, though she plowed through it, as usual, but he held his ground and told her not to worry about him. Don't know why she can't seem to leave him alone.

I normally don't like Lucas, but I respected him this episode for standing up to crazy pants Elizabeth, for once. (about what Nathan had confided in him.) However, I felt sorry for him when she was manipulative and weird with her marriage talk, later on, with Nathan, right in front of him. He really should run for the hills. But Chris did a good job looking awkward and really made us feel how weird the whole thing was. I thought for a minute I was in the twilight zone, but then remembered, it's season 9.

Minnie, Joseph, and Mr Fuzzy the squirrel were a cute and funny storyline. I love them. They put the warm in heartwarming, or what's left of it, in this show. And I loved Joseph's message at church. Bravo!

And Rosemary and Lee were lovely, though they still don't seem to have anything to do. Can they get a storyline, please? So much potential wasted, though do shine in what they are given.

It's sad that Kevin McGarry and Erin Krakow still have more chemistry with one "Hi" in the street between Nathan and Elizabeth, than E and L have with that ridiculous over the top kiss, in the beginning of the episode. It was especially over the top because she tried to manipulate him, and chide him first, for not telling her something that was confided to him in confidence. Tried to boss him around, for next time. Glad he didn't budge even if she did turn around and make it look like he did.

Bottom line, Nathan/ Kevin was strong, intuitive, intelligent, hilarious, and saved the day. In fact, he stole the entire episode.

One last beef: at the end of the day, why is Nathan once again, helping Lucabeth figure out what love is? With his cute but touching quote, about love, from the window? Why is he involved at all? It's like they don't know how to have a relationship without him. Nathan was amazing, was funny, and took himself out of the equation, but it's awkward! Do the writers really have nothing left to write for Lucabeth?

Hope it will keep improving and that Elizabeth gets some kind of redemption arc soon. For Lucas' sake!

Tonight's episode was amazing and the Hearties loved it! It looks like a storyline of love between Mei and our Mountie will continue to build along with the hope that accompanies each episode. No matter how dire the situation looks, there's always hope for tomorrow-thus, Hope Valley!!

Kevin Mcgarry was amazing.
Sar-8359927 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, Kevin Mcgarry was so good this episode. He had us on pins and needles, then nails, then sad, then touched, then laughing, then happy. His facial expressions alone take us so far. He was excellent in this episode as Mountie Nathan.

And, his chemistry with Elizabeth is still fire. Whenever he and Erin Krakow are on screen together they. Just. Sizzle. I will never understand why the writers don't get a clue and put them together. It would be epic. Instead of laughable and fake, which is what she is with Chris McNally - still ZERO chemistry. "What the heck"...that was a great way to put it, regarding that kiss in the saloon. Because it did not come across lovey-dovey or romantic, it came across as LUSTY and cringey. And I don't know what kind of rating they have as a show, but kids watch this show, and isn't she the school teacher?

I will never understand the writers reasoning on this Lucas/Elizabeth pairing. And that Elizabeth would already be taking "family" pictures together with Lucas, and they hadn't even said I love you to each other yet? It seems so forced and fake.

But I did love the rest of the photos, and that was a cute way to end the episode. Of course, I would have preferred not to have Mei in the picture with Nathan and Allie. Oh, that Allie. She's overzealous sometimes. But, perhaps Mei's interest in Nathan will give Elizabeth a wake up call. Because it's still obvious to everyone that Elizabeth belongs with Nathan.

I really enjoyed this episode. Everyone had a special moment. I love when the town comes together for each other. It had happy endings for everyone. Everyone's story was so fulfilling. I had a smile on my face the whole episode. A great show for those who care about real love among families, friends and those couples in love.

Warning: Spoilers
I just can't say enough about how wonderful this episode was!!! We got all the feels last night. Elizabeth & Lucas, Nathan and Mei, Joseph delivered a heartfelt message at church which really resonated with me and is so appropriate for the times we are living in. Don't judge people by our standards but see them through God's eyes as the unique people they were created to be!!! Bill's April Fool's surprise of a Christmas tree for the town. And the Thanksgiving meal with almost ALL of our wonderful cast included...and the wonderful pictures taken of our couples, friends, and students. Overall it was one of the best shows of the season!!!! Can hardly wait for next week as we continue with the mystery that is Walden Wyman...

Loved part 2!
ISmellSnow25 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Part 2 was a lot better than part 1. We get answers to Mei's relationship with Geoffrey and I LOVED Bill Avery's "April Fools" to the town! A nice nod to the hearties 😍 Speaking of Bill- I hope he is okay, I need Jack Wagner to stay on the show 🙏🏼 Anna moving into the cafe is a fun storyline! Lucas "subbing" at the school was so great to see! Nathan and Mei have nice chemistry- I'm cheering for them! Hickam confronting Lee was long overdue. The photos at the end were so sweet and a nice touch to end the episode!

Great Hope Valley Days!!

Warning: Spoilers
Last night's continuation of Hope Valley Days is WONDERFUL!

Who would have thought Lucas can do the teaching job sooo much fun!! Elizabeth.. what a wonderful, thoughtful teacher! I'm sure, she and Lucas will help those people who needs teaching supplies and more books for them. They are just perfect together.

I'm worried about Bill, I hope he's going to alright. His April fool surprised is awesome!

Rosemary and Lee! Oh my goodness... what a great Romeo and Juliet outfit! I love this couple!

Mike Hickam has done a fabulous job. Nathan is coming along... By helping Mei.

Finally, I love all those pictures! Little Jack is sooo adorable!! What a beautiful family they make.. Elizabeth, LJ and Lucas!

Everything in Season 9 is just one of the best season so far. Thank you Hallmark. We really need this show to continue for a long long time.

What?!!!
sherry5429 April 2022
What happened to this show? When did it become a nonsense soap opera? Nothing makes sense here. The story lines are so confusing. I don't think I could recommend this to anyone. So worldly and not worth it. I used to have hope that it would improve over years but alas it go worse. Please find some who knows about good clean Christ based romance!!!

Nathan stole the show
famyarn26 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Bill was hilarious. Jack Wagner was awesome this episode. Love the cough syrup, and the Christmas tree. Of course, it was him who put the tree as an April fool's joke!

Lucas was not so bad this episode. The teaching was nice, though this would never be allowed in real life. Substitutes would need to be upstanding citizens approved by the school board (or town council if they have direction over the school) and a self professed gambler who doles out cash for poker chips in the saloon, would not make the cut. But, this is fiction, and definitely not historically accurate, so why not? Maybe he could come back again and teach the kids something more in his wheelhouse- like card tricks, gambling, maybe even how to calculate gambling odds (that is math, is it not?), next time?

The talks between Nathan and Mei were great. Finally we know her story, and of course, the Mounties always get their man. So, of course, he saved the day. And his great acting and expressions made it all believable. We were all so happy to finally see him smile, after he's been beaten down by the writers for so long.

Loved the Canfields and the Coulters. And, Mike Hickam taking his place, finally. This episode had some good moments (thus the 2).

I have to leave a review about that kiss in the saloon. "What the heck" is exactly right. This is hallmark channel and kids watch this show. So, please, can you get a room? And, just in case you forgot, (as evidenced by the recent ask on the When Calls the Heart FB page), way more than half of your viewers don't "ship" the Elizabeth and Lucas pairing, so the writers might do better not to shove it down our throats, or to make it so cringey. Yuck!

Thank you for giving a little more care to your writing this week. We hope the good feels continue.

Wonderful Hope Valley Days
lsuachang25 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This show just gets better and better! I'm so in awe of the great writing, actors, cast and crew that are involved in this fabulous show. Just love it. This episode had so much happening, but we did get a resolution to Mei Suos storyline. I loved how Nathan stuck by her and went out of his way to help her, she was so thankful to him for that. I liked that Lee finally wrote something nice about Hickham, he was finally getting over his bitterness of losing the Mayoral to him. Seems like it relates to some of the fans of this show that still holds a grudge and bitterness. I enjoyed Lucas and Elizabeth interactions and how Lucas can keep a secret and not tell Elizabeth about what Nathan told him. I guess Elizabeth just couldn't resist not kissing him. It was hilarious! I loved all the photos taken of all our beloved characters, it's a testament to the show and great talent on it.

annapetersen-2706925 April 2022
Episode 8 was intriguing, insightful, funny, engaging, delightful, inspirational, heartfelt, and even at times thought provoking. Great storytelling bringing an entire town together to celebrate being a community! Of course there was some angst, quickly resolved, and romance mixed with good Healthy family love. So thankful for such wonderful programming.

Not much to say
sroark-4417025 April 2022
The writing remains bad, the storylines disconnect and are disjointed. The only bright spot was Nathan in the whole show. He doesn't get much screen time anymore. This is not the WCTH from season 1-7 anymore. Sad what this show has become.

This episode was fun and interesting showing the growing love between Elizabeth and Lucas as well as their love for little Jack. Great scenes with all the cast members and the mystery surround Mei kept me on the edge o my seat. Loved Lucas teaching the students and the ending filled my heart with joy. I have rewatched each episode this year for the first time. Keep up the great work both behind and in front of the cameras.
