Olly Murs has backed Nick Grimshaw as a potential X Factor judge, saying he "ticks all the boxes".
The singer and new co-host of the show spoke to Digital Spy and other reporters at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Norwich about Grimshaw's rumoured position on this year's judging panel.
"I think he'd be great. I think he's a real great personality, he's really outspoken, he's got a great way about him," Murs said.
"He's involved in music - the biggest radio station in the country - so it ticks all the boxes for me. I don't think you have to be an artist to judge. People forget that Louis [Walsh] wasn't an artist, Sharon Osbourne wasn't an artist, Simon [Cowell's] not an artist.
"I think just being involved in music gives something different. I think he'd be brilliant for the show, he's a really good character and I get on really well with Grimmy.

Despite being tipped by Scott Mills to fly the flag for the UK at the next Eurovision Song Contest, Olly Murs says he won't be competing.
Speaking to Digital Spy at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Norwich, Mills said the 'Wrapped Up' singer would be "perfect" for the competition.
However, when DS caught up with Murs later on he responded to the suggestion with a straight-forward: "No, I wouldn't do Eurovision.
"Not that I wouldn't do it, but I think it's always something I've found... new artists normally do it. Not for me Scott, unfortunately."
The UK had a disappointing night on Saturday, with Electro Velvet ending up in 24th place in the contest after managing to secure five points.
Meanwhile, Murs was joined on stage by Nick Grimshaw during his Big Weekend performance, with the Radio 1 DJ rapping Travie McCoy's part of 'Wrapped Up'.

Brian Friedman doesn't want Nick Grimshaw to join The X Factor panel.
On rumours Grimshaw could replace Louis Walsh as a judge, Friedman said: "He isn't a musical artist so I'm not sure what coaching he'd be able to give the contestants.
"The criteria should be an amazing management type or successful artist."
The choreographer had a brief stint as one of the show's judges himself in 2007. He told The Sun that he isn't sure what advice the BBC Radio 1 DJ would be able to offer the contestants.
Walsh has tipped Grimshaw to join this year's panel, saying that Simon Cowell has him "in mind".
Meanwhile, the DJ has admitted that he would "love" to play a part in the new series, but explained that he has not had any discussions with Cowell.
The X Factor returns to ITV later this year.

Lady GaGa joked that viewers would have had to "enjoy the boob" if she had suffered a wardrobe malfunction during her performance at Radio 1's Big Weekend last night. The 'Judas' star closed the two-day festival in Carlisle with a well-received 45-minute, 11-song set. Speaking to DJ Scott Mills before her performance, GaGa questioned if breasts are "allowed" on UK television. Discussing her outfits for the show, she explained that she did not have any back-up plans for her costumes which she had not planned in advance: "If a boob falls out, you're just going to have to enjoy the boob and go with it. "Are boobs allowed on television here in the UK? Boobs are okay?" she asked Mills, who reassured her that (more)...

Justin Bieber is in a forgiving mood on his current promotional trip to the U.K. - he has made up with a TV and radio journalist after walking out of an interview last time they met. The "Baby" hitmaker caused controversy in May when he reportedly stormed out of a chat with DJ Fearne Cotton during Radio 1's Big Weekend in Wales after the presenter asked about his tattoo.
But he has now cleared the air with Cotton - during an interview on her Radio 1 Live Lounge show on Thursday, December 2 the pair confirmed the incident was a "misunderstanding". Bieber told listeners, "It was all a misunderstanding. We are friends."
And the pair later took to their Twitter.com blogs to cement their new-found friendship - Cotton tweeted, "I think me and Bieber are now mates!" to which the singer replied, "Yeah we are. Thanks for having me. I'm sooo tired.

Britain's Prince William could soon be inviting Tinie Tempah to join him in a game of Polo. The prince - who is second in line for the throne - was introduced to the chart-topping rapper at Radio 1's Big Weekend, with onlookers saying the pair were chatting "for ages". Cheryl Cole's representative has slammed Lostprophets after the rockers accused the singer of taking all the VIP tickets for a U.K. festival at the weekend. The Welsh musicians were upset when they weren't allowed to invite family or friends backstage at Radio 1's Big Weekend event in Wales, and blamed the Girls Aloud beauty for snapping up all the passes for her entourage.
An unnamed bandmember told Britain's Daily Mirror, "Cheryl Cole's got all her friends and family coming. They don't want common folk asking for autographs. I wouldn't be starstruck meeting Cheryl. Sheryl Crow, maybe."
But a spokesperson on Cole's management team dismissed the rumours in a post on Twitter.com, which reads, "Dear Lost Prophets, Cheryl did not have any family or friends at 1Bw. Maybe Radio 1 thought you weren't worthy of VIP tickets."...
