Originally dated for October 2015, Gramercy Pictures had already pushed bombastic action sequel London Has Fallen back into early 2016, and today the studio has confirmed that Gerard Butler’s Mike Banning won’t be dispatched for his mission in the English capital until March 4, 2016.
Reprising his role as the highly skilled and ruthless Secret Service agent, Butler’s sophomore outing will have his agent, as the title suggest, make the jump across the pond to thwart a new terrorist attack. When the British Prime Minister falls, it isn’t long before the city follows suit, as the enemies look to captialize on all of the world leader’s coming together in the worst way imaginable.
Keen to retain the same roster as 2013’s sleeper hit Olympus Has Fallen, director Babak Najafi’s has ensrued that Robert Forster returns as General Edward Clegg, while Sean O’Bryan and Radha Mitchell are also...

Despite having to find a new director at the last minute, Focus Features have pushed ahead (for better or for worse), and cameras have officially begun rolling on London has Fallen, a sequel to Olympus has Fallen, and the first synopsis for the film has been revealed.
To be entirely honest, I didn't really care for Olympus Has Fallen. It was a fun little action film, but ultimately, I didn't walk away from it wanting more. Out of the two dueling White House takeover pics that vied for box office dominance in 2013, it’s safe to say that Olympus Has Fallen emerged victorious against White House Down (though there are some, myself included, who feel that the latter film was far superior). While White House Down disappointed at the box office, Olympus Has Fallen made more on a smaller budget and certainly did well enough to warrant a sequel, which kicked off production in London today.
Rather obviously titled London Has Fallen, the follow-up reunites stars Aaron Eckhart, Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo. This time around, Secret Service agent Mike Banning (Butler) and President of the United States Benjamin Asher (Eckhart) find themselves battling a terrorist threat in London.

Following a creative hiccup that resulted in the loss of director Fredrik Bond, the action sequel London Has Fallen is seemingly back on track with Scandinavian director Babak Najafi, director of the Snabba Cash sequel Easy Money II: Hard to Kill, behind the camera. We already knew Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman were all returning from Olympus Has Fallen, and now The Wrap has added a new cast member into the mix with Watchmen and A Nightmare on Elm Street remake star Jackie Earle Haley taking the role of Deputy Chief Mason. What are the odds that he ends up being the main bad guy? We're not sure, but casting an actor like that in what seems like a disposable role certainly raises our eyebrows. In addition, the trade has revealed that other returning cast members from the original film include Melissa Leo as Secretary of Defense Ruth...

Earlier this month, the Olympus Has Fallen sequel lost its director, Fredrik Bond, with just weeks before the film started shooting. Thankfully though Millennium and Gerard Butler have found a replacement in Scandinavian director Babak Najafi. He directed the Snabba cash sequel Easy Money II: Hard to Kill, but London Has Fallen will be his English-language debut.
As soon as Bond left London, the studio and Butler started looking for a new director to take over. But the actor wasn't liking the directing prospects so much so that he considered leaving the project entirely. Wayne Blair (The Sapphires) and Gary Fleder (Homefront, Runaway Jury) were considered, but Najafi led the race.
Written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, and Christian Gudegast. The Olympus sequel picks up in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world.

It's not a matter of if, but when Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele will take the hilarity they consistently display on Comedy Central to the big screen. And indeed, it looks like they've added another project to the handful they've got cooking. “We’re in negotiations at Paramount to make a ‘Substitute Teacher’ movie,” Key told EW. “Two of our writers are penning it. Well, they’re not penning it as we speak — it’s getting there.” In case you're not one of the 58 million people who gave it a view on YouTube, here's the sketch that sparked the film. As unlikely as it may seem (or maybe not, when you consider the surprisingly high box office receipts), Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart’s White House takeover pic Olympus Has Fallen will be getting an equally ludicrous, action-packed sequel with the upcoming London Has Fallen. And despite Olympus helmer Antoine Fuqua and Charlie Countryman filmmaker Fredrik Bond both backing away from the project over its creative direction, Millenium Films isn’t giving up. Now, we’re hearing that Scandinavian director Babak Najafi is being eyed to take the reins.
Though he’s hardly a household name, Najafi has a solid resume and is best known for directing Joel Kinnaman in another sequel, Easy Money II: Hard to Kill. He has also helmed episodes of the action-packed Cinemax series Banshee and made his debut on the acclaimed drama Sebbe. According to Deadline, Najafi is the favorite to helm London Has Fallen,...

Just last month, we learned that Charlie Countryman director Fredrik Bond would get behind the camera for London Has Fallen the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen, one of two White House-set thrillers that hit theaters in 2013. However, recently creative differences saw Bond leave the project weeks before production was slated to begin, prompting producers to quickly look for a replacement to step up and stay on schedule. Now it sounds like they've found one as THR reports Scandinavian director Babak Najafi, director of the Snabba Cash sequel Easy Money II: Hard to Kill, is now in talks to tackle the sequel instead. More below! This would mark the English-language feature film debut of Najafi, but he has also directed some episodes of the Cinemax action thriller series "Banshee," so he's not completely inexperienced. The sequel sounds like it has a lot of struggles to overcome, especially since star Gerard Butler...

After Fredrik Bond quit last week, a new director has been found for London Has Fallen, starring Gerard Butler...
Over the weekend, director Antoine Fuqua scored himself a second box office hit in a row, as The Equalizer grossed $35m in the Us alone. That's not bad at all for an R-rated movie, and Fuqua's previous film, Olympus Has Fallen, also proved a sizeable hit. So much so in fact that the sequel, London Has Fallen, is edging closer to shooting.
Fuqua's not directing it however - his next project is The Magnificent Seven, starring Denzel Washington, that starts shooting next week. Fuqua is said to have not been keen on the direction London Has Fallen was taking, hence going with other projects. The man who was taking his place, Fredrik Bond, then also left the project last week.
With production imminent, and Gerard Butler leading the returning cast, Millennium Films needed a director quickly.

Scandinavian helmer Babak Najafi ("Easy Money II: Hard to Kill") is in talks to replace Fredrik Bond at the helm of "London Has Fallen," the upcoming sequel to "Olympus Has Fallen" from Millennium Entertainment.
With only a few weeks to go before shooting, Bond left the production and so both Millennium and leading man Gerard Butler scrambled to find a replacement.
Several names emerged as contenders this past week including Wayne Blair ("The Sapphires") and Gary Fleder ("Runaway Jury"), but Najafi pulled ahead during dealmaking.
If Najafi is set, he'll shoot four weeks of the project with cast members Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo in London shortly. Then the production goes on hold for a few months and picks up again from February to April, this time with Butler also in tow.

Let me start by saying “Nordic Noir” has a lot to answer for… Desperate to ride the popularity of Norwegian dramas such The Killing, Borgen and The Bridge, UK distributors are seemingly snatching up any and all crime dramas that emanate from the region; and obviously not all can be the next The Killing… Just look at Easy Money 2 (aka Snabba Cash II in it’s original Swedish).
Foregoing rich storytelling and an engrossing plot, director Babak Najafi instead ups the violence and action for this sequel to the 2010 original. Once again starring Joel Kinnaman (Robocop) and based upon the novels by Jens Lapidus, Easy Money 2 follows Jw (Kinnaman), the promising business student who became an organized coke smuggler in Easy Money, is serving hard time in prison and struggling to...

Something of a slower week for me, on Monday I watched RoboCop and right when I got home I watched the original again just for the sake of comparison. My only other theatrical viewing was About Last Night, which my wife and I were going to go see on Valentine's, but it was only showing in two awful theaters nearby and so we decided not to, stayed home and I got her to watch Before Sunrise for the first time. I also watched Mike Nichols' Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfc on TCM and I still have to review Easy Money: Hard to Kill (Snabba Cash II), which I also watched this week and while it's decent, it has some massive plot issues. On top of that, director Babak Najafi is no Daniel Espinosa, but I am curious in watching the third and (I think) final film in the trilogy,...

I just wanted to give you a heads up that Tom Cruise's new sci-fi film All You Need is Kill has been re-titled Edge of Tomorrow, and a badass new poster has been released for it!
Personally I think All You Need is Kill is a much better title. Edge of Tomorrow sounds like a basic, boring movie title for a film I wouldn't be interested in seeing. It also sounds like a film Roland Emmerich would direct.
Warner Bros. has announced that they are officially bringing the movie to Comic-Con, and they will give fans a look at the first footage from the Doug Liman-directed film. I can't wait to see it! Especially after seeing this poster. Here is the press release with all of the details:

All You Need is Kill started production today, October 1st. It's an adaptation of the Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, and it sounds like it's going to be an insanely awesome movie! The story follows a soldier in a war against aliens who finds himself reliving his last day in battle over and over again after being killed. Because of this, he's able to become a better soldier. Cruise takes on the lead role and Blunt plays another soldier who fights alongside him.
Are you excited to see how this project turns out?

The upcoming epic sci-fi thriller, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt and based on the book All You Need is Kill, will open on March 14, 2014, from Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures. The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.
Being directed by Doug Liman, the film is the first motion picture to be shot at the recently christened Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, and begins principal photography today, Monday, October 1.
The story unfolds in a near future in which a hive-like alien race, called Mimics, have hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, shredding great cities to rubble and leaving millions of human casualties in their wake. No army in the world can match the speed, brutality or seeming prescience of the weaponized Mimic fighters or their telepathic commanders. But now the...

"You guys are behind!" Joel Kinnaman teases. From his vantage point, we are. While the first of the "Snabba Cash" films (called "Easy Money" in English-speaking markets) comes out this week in the U.S., Sweden has already celebrated the first installment, giving the film three Guldbagges (the country's equivalent of an Oscar), including a win for Kinnaman for Best Actor, and moved on to the second, "Snabba Cash II," which comes out August 17th abroad. But from a business standpoint, the U.S. is already caught up, considering that a little feat that the crime drama pulled at the Swedish box office which caught the eye of more than a few Hollywood producers: it took away the number one slot from "Avatar" for two weeks in January, 2010. Market screenings the next month at the Berlin Film Festival increased the heat, and by the Toronto International Film Festival, the U.

Welcome to an elite society. The Weinstein Company has released the official Us trailer for Easy Money, the Swedish crime thriller formerly known as Snabba Cash, which already has a sequel shot and ready. Swedish actor Joel Kinnaman stars in the gritty, violent crime thriller about organized crime and drugs. It's an intriguing trailer, trying to hide the dialogue, using only music and copiously prominent text ("from 'The Killing'!") to try and sell this to a wide audience. Don't forget, Martin Scorsese is "presenting" this in Us theaters this summer, but only in NY & La to start. Take a look at the trailer, plus a sequel bonus, below. Watch the newest Us trailer for Daniel Espinosa's Easy Money, in high def from Apple: We were also tipped onto the official trailer for the sequel to this film, Snabba Cash II, which has already been shot in Sweden...

Due for Swedish theatrical release in August, the full trailer for Babak Najafi's Snabba Cash II has arrived online. The sequel to the crime thriller than landed both director Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) and star Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) on Hollywood's radar this new effort continues the original story from Jens Lapidus' popular series of novels.Jw, the promising business student who became an organized coke smuggler, is serving hard time in prison and is struggling to get back to an honest life. But a man from his past - the former hitman Mrado Slovovic - changes everything. Jorge returns to Sweden to pull off a giant coke deal. But the deal fails terribly and now he has to flee the country with both the police...

At this point American moviegoers will know Daniel Espinosa as the director of the box-office hit Safe House. Television viewers will know Joel Kinnaman as the lead in AMC's "The Killing" or perhaps for his small role as Christer Malm in David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But for anyone that read my review of Safe House you will remember I mentioned a film called Snabba Cash (Easy Money), which Espinosa directed and I reviewed at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. That film featured Kinnaman in the lead role and it was quickly snatched up by the Weinstein Co. and with the success of both the director and its star, they have something to bank on as the Weinstein's are bringing Easy Money to theaters on July 27. On top of that, Warner Bros. has already secured the remake rights and has Zac Efron attached to star, though...
