where it seems to be changing

This episode of Magnum exemplifies where Magnum seems to be going with its cast. While Jay Hernandez and Perdita Weeks continue to play Magnum and Higgins with sincerity, zest, and just the right amount of charm to keep us interested in their characters from week to week, the writers this season have given the supporting cast much more to do. The storylines and dialogue have enabled us to see just what good actors Zachary Knight (as Rick) and Stephen Hill (as TC) are. The writers have also made Kumu more spirited and humorous this year and Amy Hill plays her wonderfully. Episodes usually involve two plots, and, here, one about Higgins and Kumu investigating criminal activity at a retirement home is delightful, with a terrific surprise appearance by an unrecognizable Richard Masur. The other, more serious one, is about how the criminal activity of Robbie, an old friend of Rick's, is affecting the relationships between Rick, TC, and Magnum. There's a nice performance here by Devon Sawa as Robbie, and both of the plots contain twists and turns that keep you guessing. But, it's the very ending that is quite shocking and leaves open the question of just how will the three friends handle this situation. An intriguing episode that is well acted by all involved.

Usually I cringe when it's a Kumu plot

While Kumu plots are over the top sanctimonious, this one wasn't too bad. But I like that at least this wasn't the only plot in this episode.

That being said. The other plot is a reoccurring MI6 episode theme that is far fetched, odd to the theme of the show and not close to my favorite

I like the reboot cast and changes. But can't we get more regular open and close episodes. Not every episode has to save the world by the only couple in the world who are irreplaceable super spy's.
