An episode into the seventh series and things are not going well for the Maguire family; Paddy wants his sons to help with his business but only Micky offers to help, but Paddy just ignores him, meanwhile Karen is beginning to think she is losing it when she realises she doesn't know where her baby is. After sending everybody into a panic Joe turns up with the baby saying Karen asked him to look after her, something she doesn't remember... is she losing it or did Joe take the baby to cause trouble? Getting help isn't Paddy's only problem, after a disagreement with a local dealer who won't pay up he is left wounded and only Micky seems concerned that he is missing. It isn't all misery though, this being Shameless there are some good laughs too such as when Carl does something unmentionable with a party toy and when at the baby's christening godmother Kelly points out that she is an atheist, ex-junkie prostitute.
The series continues to balance comedy and tragedy skilfully, the cast do a good job I think I must especially compliment Ben Batt who plays the odious Joe so well that makes my skin crawl whenever he is on screen. It was nice to see Micky doing something that didn't make him look like an idiot.
