Naturalistic portrait of a poor young man in Recife
guisreis23 September 2023
Naturalistic portrayal of a common poor young man from Recife, without any stereotype. A great change happens in his life, but the various elements which cross his uneasy life are more important than any given specific event. There are new siblings (with different levels of friendliness), and the father is known just now, but there are also the proximity to crime, the enduring back pain, serious lack of money, the broken love affair, the distance to the child, street dance, the relationship with mother, step-father, friends... All that makes his life something interesting to be followed, but I still missed something else related to the new finding taking place in the story in a more striking way. There is very little narrative story, what may be sluggish sometimes, although presenting a very nice and detailed shot of a narrow moment in time.
