Every puzzle is being pieced together. Another great episode. Tension was there the whole time. As i mentioned before, it's crazy to see that most of these events actually happened in real life, not too long ago. How frustrating must have been to be a DEA agent. The drug problem continues today. As long as there is demand, it will never end.

Victor Talia and Travis Bickle

I have found myself really focussing on the journey of Victor as struggling to stay mostly clean cop, and his attempts to stop some of the chaos he encounters daily. The resemblances to Taxi Driver seem intentional, and hopefully will have better outcomes than they did for the Scorsese protagonist.

The title seems a little off

Warning: Spoilers
The title, The Reckoning, applies to some of the characters, but those for whom a real reckoning is deserved never get one. Carlos Hank Gonzales is allowed by his system to continue on his way. It seems that the elites in Mexican and US societies never have to pay for their crimes.

General Rebollo is thrown to the wolves for taking bribes and Amado Carrillo Fuentes is hounded for having given bribes, but those who got the biggest payoff from the traffickers skate away clean.

It has been revealed recently that DEA officials took money from Miguel Gallardo's organization. In real life, the "good guy", Jaime Kyukendall, testified in the trial of Ruben Zuno Arce, claiming that he had no knowledge of any connection between Zuno Arce and the Gallardo cartel, effectively ruining the prosecution's case against the defendant.

The real life agent who ran the investigation in Operation Leyenda, Hector Berellez, has now uncovered a witness with knowledge of the payoff to DEA officials as revealed in the documentary series "The Last Narc", but the name of the corrupt DEA agent is not revealed. Jaime Kyukendall is the most likely person to have been the corrupt party, judging from the testimony he gave in the trial of Ruben Zuno Arce.

There's no reckoning for the biggest players. But still, this an excellent final episode. "Narcos: Mexico" is an outstanding series with great production values, great casting and a superb script. It's one of those rare series that you'll want to see more than once.

Warning: Spoilers
"The Reckoning" let us know that we are getting near the end of the story. I have to make one quick complaint in that it seems like they shift too much from the cops being good guys to the cops being bad guys, back to good and then back to bad. They also make it seem like everyone in government is corrupt, but when they wish they can just flip that switch and become good guys again.

As a viewer you like the entertainment value of the action, and we had some in this one, but you also have to ask for a little bit more consistency with the writing, even if you want to play fast and loose with the facts.
