Kaalu mela kaala podu Ravana kulamey...!!!
PANDIAN12062129 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
One of the remarkable aspects of this film is that it doesn't feel like a debut project for Jayakumar. His execution and overall quality are on par with experienced directors in the industry, kudos to his dedication and vision...The way he has crafted the narrative and brought out the best from the actors is truly commendable...

It subtly shows how a caste-driven society at the grassroots influences caste politics at a larger level, even sports isn't spared...

Ashok Selvan looks cool & composed post the sucessof "SABA NAYAGAN"...A long way to go keep the momentum...Sam (Prithvi) just stole the show. Great timing sense like his dad. Shanthanu also done justice to his role. Keerthi Pandian comes as a powerful female character who loves cricket... Last but not least "Bullet babu" gave West Indies 90s nightmare. Superb cameo full of vibes and fun & does elevate the flick...

Govind Vasantha does a fantabulous job especially "Railin oligal" is all time classic... Visuals are amazing looks like watching live cricket matches. Kudos to the rest of the crew...

"If something makes you cry that means we are true to it"

"Good people speak at the same frequency"

"If you win at the first chance you won't know it's importance"

And few more dialogues makes the movie a memorable one...Overall a well organised team gives you a neat package to cherish...

Not GREAT, but certainly GOOD!!
TreeFiddy536 March 2024
Finally got around to watching this film after all the hype. This socio-political movie, disguised (not in a bad way) as a sports drama was well done. I'd much rather watch films like these than the ones that get too preachy and hung up on the messaging.

Sports dramas can get too dramatic, it wasn't the case with this one. The cricket portions of the film didn't feel forced. Everybody body who acted well, except the coach. Felt like he over acted. It's OK to make the bad guy really loud to make the good guy look extra good, but that's just the easy way out. The comedy parts were...OK. I'm not a fan of 'this has to have something for everyone' type films because it changes the intensity of the film a little too much, and I felt that happen with this film as well. But that's just me. Was it bad? Not at all.

The music was....interesting. All sorts of genres, mostly Rock for background music and the buildup scenes. Some of the shots, the wide angle ones of the trains in the background, were GOOD! Overall, the film could have ended up being real preachy, but wasn't. I'll gladly watch this over Kaala/Kabali/Maamannan. That said, it should have been a GREAT movie, but wasn't. Despite the predicable plot, it was GOOD movie nevertheless and I'd totally recommend that you check it out, at least for Ashok Selvan and choices he's been making lately. What a great 1-2 years has he had!!

Yeah the movie is okay
rjmithunesh21 March 2024
So the movie is decent, the cricket scenes were really enjoyable... but the problem is with the plot itself. We've watched too many rural vs spoilt rich, oppressed vs oppressor, etc. Movies already, and this movie doesn't offer anything new in that aspect. It's the same old heroic village boys vs evil league players which is a trope that's been oversaturated at this point. The screenplay in my opinion (probably unpopular) was actually good enough to keep me engaged. The music is done well in this movie, and all the actors did their role pretty well.

This is a pretty decent One time watchable movie, so I guess give it a go if you're bored. (Barghav please don't hurt my family you did very well in the movie I beg you)

A good cricket movie
rajvignesh-601402 March 2024
The blue star as the name suggests a decent movie with all the elements like love fight sentiments emotions politics groups etc. And more cricket. Its a complete package. The screenplay would have been better, better techniques could have been used as more scenes are predictable. The story is not quite different same old one but good. The movie is lagging something, something is missing. Many scenes seems to be unwanted one. The effort from ashok selvan and shantanu has top notch. Their performances were the pillar of the story and pakshu has played an importnat role in this movie. The politics spoken is ok but need efective way to communicate. Overall a good movie can watch it for a time. Please do watch it available in prime.

Sports can unite anyone!
gauroar25 January 2024
I saw this film today and initially I felt that maybe this film was another caste discrimination film but was pleasantly surprised about the way the caste differences were depicted. The humor elements are judiciously spread throughout the length of the film ensuring that the audience is hooked to storyline. The character who portrays Ashok Selvan's brother in the movie, has done a very commendable job and his performance was very memorable. Shantanu plays second fiddle to Ashok Selvan but has shown enough promise for people to expect him to play a solo hero role sometime in the future.

This will surely be a landmark film for Ashok Selvan as it is his first with his wife starring opposite him as the heroine.

Truly Deserves 🙂
udhayaraj-6643226 January 2024
Even though this film is about the game of cricket from the outside, it really tells a lot of things that go beyond the game of cricket for me.

Unlike other films that I have seen, in these films, the heroine is given an important role.

It's amazing to be able to come up with such a beautiful film on such a shoestring budget.

It has been made in a way that even the simpleton can easily understand. So everyone who comes out after watching this movie will have the above thought that this movie is a great movie and will be a great time source without any doubt.

All the cricketers in this film have performed very well.

A social-concerned sports drama with some flaws..!
vijaykarthickvk26 January 2024
"Blue star" is a usual cricket based drama but seems different by its staging, set-up and conflicts. The first half of the movie is is very engaging with intersting conflicts between 2 local teams. The interval block was good enough, but the second turns out to be a usual cricket drama where the protagonist's team joins a tournament and competing against the ultimate antagonist in the finals. Ashok Selvan has been the main pillar of the movie. His performance was too good. Shanthanu gave a good performance for the character with some flaws in writing. Bhagavan perumal and prithvi who played the characters of Immanuel and Sam gave interesting and suprise performances. Govindh vasantha's 1 song was good and the background score was very good. Cinematography was not great but good enough. Positives are the performances of lead actors, character conflicts in the first half/the entire first half and mainly the dialogues. Negatives are the second half where there is no seriousness in the games after the first match and started to feel repetitive, and the Romance portions were started to feel unwanted after some time. 2nd half fails to speak the politics effectively that have been spoken in first half. On a whole, this a good movie with some flaws.

Unadulterated periyarist bilge
lilobrf30 January 2024
Bluestar is anything but a sports movie .

It hectors its way into cinematic oblivion with the most convenient and abjectly superficial treatment of subaltern vs the elite , rendering it a caste color where there is none.

This tendency has been a calling card of direcotr Pa Ranjit who seems to resort to easy tropes to justify his hatred for some based on caste . So the old fashioned casteism of the director oozes forth through the movie through a festering sore .

He scratches every shadow and plumbs every pit of his Periyarist casteist mind to find justification for discrimination based on caste .

Patently avoidable bilge.

Sport is discipline and respect people and team as one
gmmurugan17 March 2024
Well executed movie with decent political agenda and love, family, friendship, nativity and humanity above all. More than all of those, a well taken message is be calm and do what's needed.

Cinematogaphy topnotch.. acting a1.. especially Ashok, Prithvi and of course Shanthanu Would have avoided too much dark tone and hatred speech. Added little more comedy.

Villain was not strong but this storyline doesn't need that. It's an emotion and everyone carried that well except couple characters. Few characters like Venkat which also mentioned that they will change and join this revolution. But they didn't till end.

Overall good movie for sports or cricket fan.

satheeshrma29 February 2024
Lots of thinks have to change in this movie First heroin portion irritating, seems like serial not movie, old and not interesting screen play, regular flow of movie. Length climax, my mind thought when this movie going to finish, mudiyala, shyam portion good. Better luck next time to the director. I think Editor slept during movie editing. Music is nice. Cinematography is fine. All actors done good except that heroin. Lots of cuts needed. Finally This is not movie it is serial. Full of particular political background
stanleansiva25 January 2024
From name to climax Blue Particular political background Hero name -Ranjith Background ideology -all communal base.

Don't know why nowadays these people spoiling cinema field on communal base.. Everywhere using code..

All creating unnecessary contraversis obviously.

I don't know what they are trying to say in this story by keeping nonsense in the backyard..

Everyone should ignore these kind of movies Then only good production and genuine family movie will be directed.

Came out of theatre with disappointment where the film industry is heading towards.

If the same continues majority of people will stop coming to theatre..
