Sex & Nudity

  • A couple are seen making love, beneath bedding. The woman, still wearing a her bra, slips out and gets dressed. We only see her from the waist-up until she is fully clothed.
  • A man gets out of bed to check a nearby window, to investigate a noise. He is shown completely naked and briefly faces camera, with full frontal nudity, as he collapses back on the bed.
  • A wheelchair-bound man is bathed by a fully-dressed woman and they have a tense conversation. The man can be seen naked, but the letterboxing cuts him off at the groin, showing only his pubic hair in these shots.
  • A young man gets out of bed, walking fully nude past camera. The shot then changes to follow him to the window, where he stands fully nude, looking out. A young woman soon joins him and they have a conversation. Both are shown full frontal in brief glimpses.
  • A young woman takes a pregnancy test. It is suggested that she is fully nude, but we only see her from the shoulders-up. Meanwhile, a young man stands nude in the doorway for several moments. The focus is on the woman, leaving the man slightly out of focus, but he is obviously nude with these few moments of full frontal albeit out-of-focus nudity.
  • Two characters, explained later to be lovers from 20-years before, passionately make out upon meeting each other at the doorstep. This is quickly shown to be a fantasy, but is brought into reality a few scenes later. No nudity, but very heavy kissing.

Violence & Gore

Profanity

  • There are a few slurs, including homophobic and slut-shaming language.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A character is shown repeatedly huffing chemicals; inhaling petroleum from a jerry can or spray-paint fumes in a plastic bag.
  • A character vapes briefly in one scene.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There is a fierce scene of domestic violence, with a threatening altercation between an abusive junkie and his daughter.
  • There is a brief blood-test scene, with the actual blood-letting kept off-screen.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • At the climax of the film, the switchblade knife is pulled out and two characters get stabbed. One man gets stabbed in the underarm and a young (pregnant) woman gets stabbed in the back. Both stabs are partially obscured but convincing.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A woman is stabbed in the back. She pleads with her attacker, saying that she is pregnant. The attacker goes for another stab before being taken out by a blow to the head from another character, at the last minute.
  • A young woman has a breakdown. She trashes a living room in an extended sequence and then douses the room (and the body of her father) with petrol before setting the whole room ablaze.
  • In a flashback, a man shown to be repeatedly inhaling chemicals to get high, seemingly overdoses and has a seizure, which concludes with him vomiting. Flashing forward, another character concludes that this man "choked to death on his own vomit".
