Cheap and predictable
Leofwine_draca25 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this rubbishy indie feature under the title 101 ZOMBIES. It's an obvious homage/rip-off of the Hollywood hit ZOMBIELAND, made without wit, sense, or style. A trio of youthful heroes have to team up to battle a zombie horde invading their township, but there are about three zombies at once and the occasional cheap gore scene. The rest is an exchange of trite dialogue between deathly dull characters with zero narrative drive.

Fun Zombie flick that's worth your time.

Just when I thought there were no more cool zombie flicks, I stumble upon Broken Springs.

It's a fun zombie flick in the vein of ZombieLand. The killing of the zombies is both enjoyable and creative, especially given its low budget.

Broken Springs has a lot going for it. It never quite makes up its mind on whether it wants to be a parody, an action movie, or a conspiracy flick; which is great as the movies quick pace keeps you entertained the whole way through.

Definitely one of the best zombie flicks I've ever seen. Even the zombies were superb. The rest of the cast shines as well. I suspect this movie will launch some careers.

Broken Springs exceeded the expectations set by the trailer. So if you liked the trailer, you'll love the movie.

Fantastic Movie!
bmaj01-14 December 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was great! A perfect combination of comedy, action, blood, gore, emotion, and great effects! I would highly recommend this movie to everyone! Truly a good time watching this movie! Since this movie was filmed in my hometown, it was nice to see such familiar areas and people. The fact of the matter is, yes its an independent movie but it was very well done! The action of the movie provides a great mixture of blood and gore with comedy. Has such good wit and sense of humor. As far as the emotion in the movie, there are a few scenes that definitely bring the emotion out of the characters that leave you wanting more. This movie should be on sale on amazon.com within this week sometime. I encourage everyone to go pick up a copy!

An exceptional Indy film!

I just got a copy of the Broken Springs DVD and couldn't wait to watch it. I was surprised to say the least. For a low-budget independent film, the special effects are amazing. I mean they are as well-done as most box office hits out there today. The movie has an edgy style and some awesome color variations for mood. The make-up featured "real" looking blood and gore. Some of the dialogue is hilarious! I enjoyed the comedic moments a lot. They lightened up the movie between it's intense horror scenes. The information on the cover was quite impressive. This film was featured in several film festivals all over the country. If you are into horror movies, zombies, special effects, unique story lines, cult flicks, and truly fun and entertaining movies, you MUST see this one. I loved it. *Note: I would not recommend this movie for kids under age 13 because there is a brief nudity scene or two, and the language is for adults only (vulgar expletives). That's the only reason I gave this film a "9" out of "10" review. As for myself, I plan on watching this movie over and over to catch all the funny lines and clever parts I may have missed. Excellent writing and directing on this one.

Hillbilly Zombies, what a concept.
antbfrazier8 December 2011
Since I was thirteen years old I have loved zombie movies. My first zombie experience was "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things." It horrified me and ever since I have been only moved by fear with this genre of film. Neeley Lawson's Broken Springs was a great semi new take on the whole aspect of how a Zombie Apocalypse would occur. I had never heard of this ideal of hillbilly's and moonshine causing the pandemic. I spoke with someone about this film after I saw it because it is so worth talking about, they said, back in the eighties, there was another hillbilly zombie movie similar to this but it wasn't moonshine that caused the problem. Since I haven't seen the other film I have to say this was an awesome take on the zombie film genre. It had that great cheesy comical taste to it of the seventies zombie genre, and, I am calling it now, this will become a zombie cult film. Filming on location in the south created a great backdrop for this story line. The scenery in the south is unmistakable and for good reason. All the actors were local people, so again, it made for a, more real, depiction of people in the south. It is a fun roller coaster ride of, humor, and, horror, definitely, a must see film. Way to go Neeley, you hit the nail on the head with this film.

its the south and sometimes people here act really DENSE! the tainted moonshine being spread by the police was classic! the story line drama was well rounded in with the gore and violence! very funny and entertaining! i thought the perv was the funniest character; just couldn't get lucky! it has all what a guy movie needs: boobs, booze and blood! rocking movie! the whole zombie concept has been done in so many different ways, yet this movie is unique!! I've seen a lot of movies in this genre all from Dawn of the Dead from the 70s to Zombieland! always been a zombie fan and always will be! this movie did the zombie apocalypse idea justice! i definitely recommend this movie! if you haven't seen it, you're missing out! so go buy yourself a copy!!:)

Two stumps up!
brntmc9 December 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Conseptually Sound story. very intriguing use of a realistic Southern Appalachian past time. "MOONSHINE"! I found the movie very entertaining. Much like trying a new holiday recipe from your neighbor's Copper Kettle, not sure what to expect, but after that 1st swig,MAN WHAT AN AWESOME FLAVOR! This film holds as many twists and turns as the back country roads it was filmed around! Loved the film locations, and the special effects. Not sure how the director found some of these character's, but I have to guess some were able to draw upon real life experiences. I'm giving this indie film two bloody stumps up! Can't wait to see the next project from this director!
