Hit Parade of the Gay Nineties (1950)

Traditional songs like "Frankie and Johnny," "The Band Played On," "Old Folks at Home," and "Creole Belle" are highlighted in this rather entertaining short from Warner. What we basically get are these familiar tunes played in mostly a flashback form as the narrator talks about previous generations and where they would go to listen or see live music. We'll get an introduction to the location and then we get some nice music numbers. This was a very entertaining short running just under 9-minutes and I think it's really going to appeal to music fans as well as film buffs. If you're interested in the older style of music that the studios were pumping out back in the day then you're really going to enjoy this. The music numbers were all done extremely well as are the scenes set in various locations including a beer garden. I think the film really captures some nostalgic moments and is worth watching.
