A few days ago, I had to drive my teenager to the mall and had a few hours to kill while she shopped. Oddly, the local art school, Ringling, had created a mini theater in the mall in which they showed off various films by their students. And, being an insane lover of film shorts, I sat back and watched about a dozen of these films. They all were quite good.
Kendra Vander Vliet made what is obviously the cutest of all the CGI videos I saw. "Nuri" is an exceptionally simple film but it really made me smile. And, on top of that, the CGI was exceptionally nice---so very professional.
While the plot might be best enjoyed by younger audiences, I was captivated. It's very hard to explain, but I'll try. A child (I assume this is Nuri) is outside--trying to help baby stars rise into the heavens. Again and again, Nuri tries tossing the adorable baby stars up into the sky with no success. Finally, Nuri hits on an idea and the ending gave me a nice laugh. See this film!
