Losing interest

Unfortunately. It's starting to feel like trivial stuff is happening, and we're losing the main two drives of the show, which I won't spoil.

But it's: how to answer the main issue of the show, and if their proposed answer is the correct one. Things are just happening in the show now.

Mildred Layton takes on Professor Harold Hill.

Warning: Spoilers
I've been waiting for this episode. Mildred Layton aka Kristin Chenoweth just rips up the set with "Tribulation". Poor Mayor Menlove. He's got real competition now. I just love this show.

My weakest episode so far :( (but still good)
danielmolloy-facebook6 August 2021
I watch every episode at least 4 times lol and I always enjoy them more on the rewatch, especially as I learn the songs.

This episode was still great but it was my weakest so far. High points included Emma's secret and the way Mildred's song was filmed.

I have to say the songs were the weakest for me here. Was sad to only get 3 instead of the usual 4.

Firstly Melissa's was a reprise of Suddenly which I like but as it's not a main number it will always rank lower for me.

Tribulation.... I'm not sure, I'll see how I feel after a few relistens. Again, I like the way it was filmed but the song being mainly just talking disappointed me.

I think that's just because I know Kristen's powerhouse voice and I was so excited for her to finally get her moment thinking it would be this big song. But I appreciate the style of it and I don't dislike it.

Jane's song was....ok? She just came into very quickly and it all felt slightly rushed.

Plus we only have 1 episode left and there's so much to wrap up plus characters we never even got to see.

Are Madam Vina & Buford Riggs only seen for 2 seconds each in episode 1?

Overall I've LOVED this season. I'm so excited for the finale but I don't want it to end :(

Not for this episode, but for Kristin Chenoweth's performance
Weary767 August 2021
I just wanted to praise Kristin Chenoweth, and the cast and crew, for delivering a single take shot (zero editing) for a complicated musical number (loads of fast spoken lyrics) with Kristin Chenoweth as the lead.

I don't know how many takes it took to nail it, but eitherway they've succeeded at some point. Very well done, and it's possible not every viewer may have noticed that it was all one take because it went so organically.

Great job, I was very impressed!

Also, this is old-fashioned musical filmmaking. Minimal editing, and let the star do the work. Nice to see that spirit captured.

Nothing bad to say about the rest of the episode, I enjoyed it, everyone does a good job.

Competition
Hitchcoc8 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Kristen Chenowith shows her stuff in a parody of "We Got Trouble" from The Music Man ("Tribulation") . She is stirring up the troops for the Mayoral election as she continues to take over every aspect of Schmigadoon. There are several reveals here. The school teacher reveals that she is not the boy's sister but rather his mother. Unfortunately, the boy hears her tell Josh this. Another development which draws from "The Sound of Music," is Jane Krakowski, who plays the Countess. But she doesn't play nicely. We can see that Josh and Melissa are starting to move more and more closely to one another. We are ready for the finale.
