An engineering problem.
slak96u29 July 2022
A good majority of the episode takes place on Mars, in space, or with the NASA/Helios engineers, which is an immediate improvement over much of this season. When the series stays focused on its premise, ie space, the relationship aspect is drastically more palatable. It's considerably less "soapy", the drama is less forced and everything is improved.

However, Danny continues to be absolutely insufferable, as does Ed really, not sure how much more Danny I can honestly take at this point. Karen pitches in on that disaster of a plotline back on Earth, the sooner it comes to some sort of conclusion the better, it's mind-numbing. Maybe should've just left the HAB buried on Mars, the series would probably have been the better for it.

Decent episode, though I think the conclusion was a bit....weak. Eitherway this week was a vast improvement over the last couple. Hopefully the momentum continues on to the the finale.

Return to form!
jlsmithgrad29 July 2022
This episode was a much needed redemption after the past two episodes. This episode was a good return to form, and back to the original science meets character driven story telling. Helped tie up some loose ends with previous storylines, and added some character depth. This episode was not without heartbreak.

Significantly better
bluejays-8804531 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A blissful lack of boring drama makes this episode significantly more watchable than the last two. It took two episodes but we're actually doing things on Mars and it's about as cool as you'd expect. Can we have more of this it's kind of why I watch the show. Downsides of this episode: Danny and his permanently PO'd brother are a real drag on the show and Kelly being pregnant is a very avoidable level of cringe that we're going to be dealing with. Oh well. I hope it'll at least happen in Mars because I can't take another 5 minutes of Danny's brother having permanent mope face or whatever's going on with the gay president.

Return to form in this episode

Warning: Spoilers
After two frankly bad episodes, this show returns to form with this one and reminded me why this show is so good. Most of the episode is dedicated to Mars and the characters personal drama is far better and feels much more focused. This episode also gave much needed depth to the Steven's brothers characters and incredibly made me sympathise and feel pity for them. All in all, a much needed incredible episode after 2 very sub-par ones. Excited once more for the final 2 episodes after this episode.

Amazing episode and why I love this show

So much Danny hate in these reviews but I cant get enough. No spoilers but I was on the edge of my seat for the entire episode. I think I even gasped out loud and shouted "you have the smartest engineers in the world in the room! Figure it out!" Solid episode and a great season.

Both of Gordon's kids are annoyinf
jeroen-10618 September 2022
Too much contrived drama.

One kids is angry for some reason and takes pills in space. When he gets recognized as an addict he is strangely enough still assigned to a critical comms job and obviously screws up. I hate the kid - there's nothing to sympathize, there is no real reason for his extreme behavior and I want him to choke on planet Mars since episode 1.

Then there's his little brother. Equally annoying. Hanging out with some friends and they do stupid stuff that doesn't do anything for the storyline except further annoy us.

Bit worried about the writing this season. They killed off some amazing characters (which is fine) and never replaced them with new, interesting ones (which is not fine).

Hope the quality will improve again or I'll stop watching.

Oh wow, they're on Mars
jp-2064 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm happy the writers remembered Mars and that the majority of this episode took place on Mars. I find Danny to be an irredeemable character and was hoping he didn't survive, but alas, the writers like his angst. We didn't need that nugget they revealed at the end. I found this episode better than the previous two but nowhere near the caliber of the previous two seasons. Too much drama. There's no way a country trying to win the space race would send such drama queens into space.

Ugh
BLAlley30 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Yes the episode is more about problem solving, but it's impossible to remain engaged knowing the entire problem occurred in the first place due to lazy writing by people with limited education and experience who pull idiotic "science" from rearward-facing orifices.

How am I supposed to care when their Norman Bates wannabe caused the explosion by getting hopped up on drugs (which could never happen), allowing the pressure to rise, and actually switching off the coms. Worse, after he is trapped he whines like a child. Real astronauts are badass problem solvers who don't give up.

I seriously doubt they would find a water reservoir right next to a sheer cliff, nor would they park their vehicles 49 miles away at the bottom of the cliff when they are working on the shelf above.

Space exploration is wrought with challenges already, yet the dolts writing this show are so technically and creatively bankrupt that they think they need to throw in moronic characters who make the worst decisions to create drama and tension.

Oh, and why are they still wasting time with the silly melodrama with the President's ex and now Kelly being pregnant? Ugh.

Enough with drame
mutu_mutu31 July 2022
Thats enough. We dont wanna watch danny's or steven's family drama anymore. If you you want, you can make a new drama series with them. For god sake, you are on mars but no you have to watch danny's useless drama. Keep going like that. Soon noone ever gonna watch this again.

Mars. Disaster. And what?
kooseoul27 June 2023
Before getting deeper, I appreciate this ep made success to save this series out of soap pit. Looks like it managed to somehow survive the soap opera storm while navigating around a remote planet.

But, that said, it still leaves the viewers under the thick sand making them suffocating. Honestly is there any writer who can handle just the old cliche of 'disaster on a space exploration'?

I was expecting to see how things can get tense and bitter surrounding the liquid water under the ground of the red planet -- but without disaster and rescue mission. I mean this is simply boring and anybody can see what's coming.

Since this series has done so many great things previously, I still hoping to see what I really hoping it to come.
