Who killed Rodney Williams and why? Reg continues delving into the lives of those around him.
What sort of association was Arria?
It's a satisfying second segment, as is the case with the book, it's a very grim and bleak story, it deals with some very dark subject matter, subjects at the time which were strictly taboo.
Some of the Ruth Rendell mysteries can be a little slow, this one certainly isn't, it moves along quickly, and has lots of twists and turns, you'll be guessing the identity of the killer right up until the end.
This would have been pretty shocking back in 1990, I would argue it is still able to pack a punch over thirty years later.
Very good, 8/10.
