What Shell does. Sort of.

Warning: Spoilers
This is an interesting snapshot of the Shell oil company.

We see pipelines, refineries, some people operating the large computers of the day. We see offshore oil rigs from various perspectives, and oil tankers. Then we see a wide range of oil products being made and tested (did Shell actually make these products?): fertilizer, various plastic sheets and containers, jet fuel, and of course gasoline. And there's the familiar Shell logo.

Typical of the era, and of business generally, there's no concern for any of the effects of all this. What happens to the things that were "in the way" of the oil rig? What happens when the oil is spilled? What happens to all the plastic products people don't want any more? What happens to the climate when you burn it all? And of course, what happens to a country who grows dependent on finite resources like these?

As propaganda, and a snapshot of the times, it is pleasant enough. But it fails as a documentary. This is only the side of Shell that they wanted you to see.
