Love that Amanda has finally made her debut on the show! Easy highlight of the episode!

Embracing the OG

An entertaining but rather slow and uneventful episode, except for the last five minutes. A great utilisation of OG storyline's, including Blake's campaign and Amanda's arrival. It's extremely refreshing seeing the show embrace the OG instead of ignoring it, all of the best storyline's of the show are updates or homages ripped from the original. I would be disappointed if we don't get the attempted assassination with the senator storyline, or Dex and the suicide attempt with Amanda. There's a lot to pull from, and I, for the first time in a while, am every excited to see here the show goes next.

Some things need to change

This episode proved that everything related to the original is the most interesting, storyline's and characters and all. Sam has been a tragic train wreck and he's gotta go. Steven is so so so much more dynamic and compelling, and he should replace Sam. Why Steven has disappeared and Sam has appeared in every episode is beyond me. Can't say i care about Fallon or Liam, they haven't been interesting since the start of the season. Alexis and Dominique have been a treasure this season. Culhane, Sam and Kirby need to go so Steven can come back and Alexis and Dominique can appear in every episode. Amanda was great and I hope this is only the start of more original characters, like Caress, Sable, Brady and Dex.

Original vibe

It seems like David Israel has somehow learnt how to write a pretty good episode loyal to the original show. Yes, Chris Fife could have done better but I expected worse. Amanda and Blake's senatorial campaign are nods to the original. Big surprise of the episode is the dynamic between Fallon and Dominique. The deserve more scenes together as they proved they work together and are a family despite everything. Grant's direction is fine but still very basic compared to what we can expect from huge directors like Michael Allowitz and Pascal Verschooris, who combined multiple different sequences all together with perfect music choice during the course of the show.

A boing episode. Amanda was great but nothing else was happening. Can David Israel just leave the show already? He really has no clue about the original or the fans, and it shows. You can't fake love, admiration and enthusiasm for the source material, especially when your previous work includes two black and white episodes.
