Discovering yourself, your destiny, or your demise?
goodmanb-18 March 2010
The unhurried and gorgeously filmed "Taylor's Way" has a breakout performance by Ridgeway (as Taylor), beautiful cinematography of the Canadian wilderness, and just enough tension (sexual, moral) to keep the viewer interested. Indeed, I was mesmerized by the film and hope that it is released on DVD so that I can see it again. The attractive Taylor opens the film after a fight with her boyfriend/significant other, ending up alone at a bar, seemingly using some pints of beer to help deal with some demons. Enter Wyatt, a clean cut, polite young man who approaches Taylor. At first Taylor rebuffs him but then his gentle charm wins her over. They end up spending an enchanting and chaste night together and she falls asleep in his RV. The next morning she wakes up in the wilderness.... As you see Wyatt slowly winning Taylor over, and you see her embracing the natural environment, you root for her self-discovery, while feeling a sense of uncomfortable foreboding. What is Taylor's destiny? What are Wyatt's intentions? A beautiful film, with complex themes, and some surprises for the viewer.

This Movie Will Keep You Guessing

Didn't know what to expect from this movie, but I was first taken in by the beautiful cinematography. However, I started to worry there wouldn't be any payoff. I sure was wrong. This movie REALLY sucks you in, and makes you want to think you're going in the exact opposite direction that the filmmakers are taking you. This is a movie that'll keep you on the edge of your seat, whether or not you like where it ends. If nothing else, this will make you want to take an adventure through the north woods of wherever you are, but maybe you should think twice, about who you're taking that adventure with. Just see it.
