As their dumpy apartment turns into an igloo because of a broken boiler, Ralph announces he has been given an "executive" position as an accounting clerk. This huge promotion is going to net him a dollar and a quarter more per month. Of course, because he is sick with a terrible cold and due to Norton's interference, he ends up taking home money for protection but is accused of stealing it. This leads to all sorts of implications. But it also brings about a rather touching conclusion.
