Entertaining and funny.

A well liked, well loved man dies, and is found floating next to a party boat.

I found the crime almost secondary to events initially, early on it focuses more on the love lives of Annika and Morgan, and that works rather well here, Paul McGann is great once again, and central to events, the crime becomes very interesting, and the ending is excellent.

Good use of humour, thus was quite amusing at times, but it was well measured and balanced.

Walker once again was excellent. For me this has been the best episode so far, 7/10.

Episode 5

Warning: Spoilers
Paul Galbraith a property developer was having a party in his boat and is later found dead. His body thrown overboard. However he died of a heart attack after being waterboarded.

Annika needs to figure out why would someone want to torture someone who was regarded as a popular person.

The investigation is linked with the Greek tragedy of Agamemnon.

Annika encounters an angry Greek neighbour of the dead man. The first sign that Paul might have been a nasty piece of work.

Investigations revealed that the manner of his death, mimicked that of Mesothelioma, a deadly cancer linked to asbestos.

A straightforward story with some nasty edges. Revenge against a toxic man who would deliberately place his close friends in danger. It even leads to the actual culprit being driven to the edge of what could had been a fiery demise.

The story is padded with Annika's budding romance with therapist Jake.

Storyline ok. Detail dodgy.

General storyline is ok and there are a lot of comic moments. However ther are quite a few times when you think, 'She wouldn't have done that', ' why didn't she....', ' that was a jump to a conclusion'.

Why a therapist would start a conversation sounding like therapy and then claim he couldn't continue the relationship with Annika because her daughter was still thinking it was therepy is just one example.

Annika can analyse other characters but not the relationship between herself and her daughter. This is a common trope in tv dramas but it's a bit extreme here.

Perhaps it should only be 5. But it is enjoyable enough compared to what else is available on a Saturday evening.

Best episode yet

I had a smile on my face after watching this episode. For me, there was just the right balance between the personal relationships and the criminal investigation. There was also more humor in this one, although it did not overpower the seriousness of the crime. The tie-in to the story of Agamemnon wasn't completely clear until the end. And speaking of the ending -Wow!

The connection to Mesothelioma was interesting. I never realized that it was a problem as big as or greater than in the US. Apparently it's usage was allowed a lot longer there. It wasn't completely banned until about 10 years later than here in the States. Would have put that in the Trivia section, but I needed to fill this ridiculous minimum character limit.

Hope the final episode of the season is as good as this one.

Reaching the end I think

Warning: Spoilers
I'm not sure if Annika has been renewed for a second season, but I think the over-emphasis on private lives and Viking lore is kind of over-shadowing the main plot of crime solving. Anyway, I wish season two (if there is one) gets back to basics with crime solving please.
