The new year and ITV starts it off with another true life crime drama.

This is based on the reinvestigation of the Pembrokeshire murders also known as the Bullseye killer that stretched back to 1985.

Luke Evans is DCS Steve Wilkins who has come up back to Wales from London in 2006. He has opened a cold case enquiry.

In his sights is John Cooper (Keith Allen) who is in jail for a series of violent burglaries but he evaded justice for the murders.

Cooper is eligible for parole, a television documentary is also looking into some old murders that they believe are linked. Wilkins wants Cooper to remain in jail for now.

With the advancement of DNA technology, Wilkins is looking for an opening and he sets up a news interview to rattle Cooper.

This was a brisk opening episode that sets everything up. Everyone was efficient and it was also a bit bland. There is some backstory with Wilkins and his football playing son.

Even Cooper who religiously watches the local news each evening in prison looks more bored than creepy.

A terrific start.

Pembrokeshire was the site for several murders and.crimes, the cases remained unsolved, this is the story of the story of John Cooper, the coastal Murders.

I thought this was an excellent start, a terrific first episode. ITV have really focused on real life crime dramas in recent times, White House Farm and Des, this is another in the run, one I'd argue that's on par with David Tennant's Des.

I was a little surprised that the series focused more so on The Detective, Steve Wilkins than the perpetrator, but I suppose when you have Luke Evans, you make him centre stage.

The acting, outstanding, wonderful to see Evans on the small screen, he really has presence, and a star quality. Keith Allen was excellent also as Cooper.

I don't often watch live TV as the adverts drive me bonkers, but it was worth it here.

Excellent start, 9/10.

The writer & editor for this series needs to be sacked

The scene where 6 different people start explaining the murders, about 2/3 of the way through, is one of the best examples of how NOT to edit. Unbelievably choppy editing. 6 different people all randomly spewing their lines in a shotgun spray fashion. It's migraine inducing, I can't believe this made it to air.
