“Doctor Who’s” Ncuti Gatwa just faced off against the franchise’s wackiest, most over-the-top villain yet. And that was before they started singing.
Enter “RuPaul’s Drag Race” superstar Jinkx Monsoon as Maestro.
Those familiar with Monsoon’s game wouldn’t expect anything else from her: the beloved two-time “Drag Race” winner is currently taking Broadway by storm, wowing audiences as Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors” opposite Corbin Bleu. This summer, she will return to “Chicago,” reprising her role as Mama Morton after she became the cast’s first drag performer in 2023.
And she’s not done dreaming big — Monsoon’s still got her sights set on becoming a Disney Villain one day. “I’m available! People know how to get in contact with me. I got a great laugh, and I can sing. I was raised by Ursula the sea witch,” she says.

TV Personality Cason Kressley revealed his favorite RuPaul’s Drag Race moment in his new uInterview.
“We just crowned our season 16 winner, Nymphia Wind,” Kressley dished. “So many of the contestants are a little overwhelmed by being there amidst those competitors and being judged by [RuPaul], and I think Nymphia had such a great trajectory of starting out a little slow, but I loved her fashion references, her workmanship, the looks she created were mind-blowing.”
He concluded, “By finale time, she was ready to be the winner. She’s very talented.”
Kressley also reflected on his favorite moment on the show. “When they did the Carson Kressley roast,” he said. “They were so funny. It’s like going to your own memorial, but you’re still alive because there’s a lot of great memories.”

Kressley shared the first big tip: “Book early if you can. You know, most resorts, most all-inclusive, even some theme parks or cruise lines, want to make sure they have a business for the entire year, so if you start now and you’re booking something for September or October, they’re willing to do a better deal for you because they want to fill up those months. Nearly 20 years ago in New York City, a young, restless, teenaged Julia Fox would wait patiently for her neighbors to throw out their trash before sneaking down to the basement and scavenging the recycling bins for magazines she could use to make collages. She would skip over the copy and head straight to the photos — oftentimes of models and streetstyle fashion — and use scissors and glue to reimagine the most striking images into her own creation.
“I guess in a way I was making a vision board… but like, not really” Fox tells me, dragging her last syllable in a long, seductive rasp. We’re sitting across from each other in a suite at the Jw Marriott looking over Central Park, only a few long blocks from the Upper East Side neighborhood of Yorkville where she spent much of her childhood, often squatting in whichever vacant apartment her dad was working on as a contractor.

“I mean, there’s just nothing that can prepare you for the experience of Drag Race, because it is an experience of its own,” Season 16 queen Q said during a panel at Deadline’s Contenders TV: Documentary + Unscripted awards-season event.
After 16 seasons, MTV’s RuPaul’s Drag Race still manages to keep contestants and viewers on their toes — even when they’ve been vying for a spot for years, like Season 16 queen Sapphira Cristál.
“I auditioned for RuPaul’s Drag Race 11 times, and so I had a lot of time to prepare,” she said, explaining that each rejection only made her want it more. She used every year that passed as an opportunity to improve her craft in some way — whether it be her looks, her dance moves, her sewing even her mental health.

Known in some circles as the “fan favorite” award, the title of Miss Congeniality on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is a prize handed out to the queen most representative of kindness and for having strong sisterly bonds with the other girls. Up until Season 10, the award was voted on by the audience, but has since been selected by the cast members themselves, and is buttressed by a cash prize that has ranged from $1,500 to $10,000. Due to a historic tie in Season 16 between Sapphira Cristal and Xunami Muse, there have now been 17 total contestants awarded the title, many of whom have returned to compete at least one more time on various “All Stars” cycles. Which “fan favorite” queen is Your all-time fave? Read on for the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Miss Congeniality winners. Gallery originally published April 2023.

Nymphia was named the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16, taking home a nice $200,000 check for her hard work.
Nymphia also earned the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar.
“To those who feel like they don’t belong, just remember to live fearlessly and have courage to live your truth. And Taiwan, this is for you!” she told Entertainment Weekly.

One of those fans is Big Brother 24 winner Taylor Hale, who shared some thoughts on social media.

Each week on “Whatcha Packin’,” Michelle Visage interviews the recently eliminated queen, but for the three finalists of season 16 she’s sitting down to chat ahead of the April 19 “Grand Finale.” Sapphira Cristál and Michelle bond over being foodies, mothers, and Sapphira’s embrace of being slew footed. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In her interview with Michelle, Sapphira tells the story of how she started singing opera at the age of 13 by attending a performing and visual arts high school, but she was first inspired when she saw “La Boheme” at the age of four and was enthralled. She goes on to say that drag and opera happened simultaneously for her because she came to drag by way of opera. She also admitted that when she first started doing her drag her mom was not initially supportive because she didn...

There is a lot of drag content circling on your device in 2024, but one thing you can’t ignore is any opportunity to watch Derrick Barry on television. Perhaps the most well-known Britney Spears impersonator in the world, Barry has been television gold on multiple “RuPaul’s Drag Race” seasons including the shortlived 2020 reality series, “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Vegas Revue.” Now, Barry and a number of their co-stars from the “Drag Race Live” show in Las Vegas are back with a new spin on that concept, “RuPaul’s Drag Race Live: Untucked.” And, no, surprise, Barry is so entertaining, they genuinely deserve some sort of producer credit.

Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In her interview with Michelle, Nymphia finally gets a chance to open up about where her obsession with the color yellow and bananas came from. She explains that she wore a yellow outfit once in 2020, fell in love with it, and then eventually paired the color with the “phallic” and “camp” image of bananas. With a new BBC radio series now launched, Courtney Love is once again proving the power of the adage “go large or go home.”
In a wide ranging interview with the UK’s Standard today, the former Hole front woman puts forth her take on some of the biggest names in the music industry. Let’s just say, Love bites in deep in the newspaper, to quote from her 1998 tune “Celebrity Skin,” to get her pound of flesh from Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Madonna and recent Coachella headliner Lana Del Rey.
“Taylor is not important,” the People vs. Larry Flint star says of the superstar.
“She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist,” Love added.
The contrarian opinion on Swift is a big shift from where Love was on the Folklore singer just over two years ago.
