No one to root for
bitbucketchip25 October 2021
A stranger comes into town, is beaten up for being a stranger coming into town, is arrested, escapes, murders in cold blood the man responsible for the accidental(!) overdose of his drugged out daughter, and is pursued for that murder. Oh, plus the government water deal is now in jeopardy for some reason, despite being entirely unrelated to anything going on and the viewer not knowing enough about the deal to care one way or the other.

Lots of people speak. Lots of people die. Lots of the audience snores.

Three stars for decent acting all around. Richard Dreyfuss appears. I can only imagine he's repaying a debt or is related to one of the D-listers onscreen. No stars for the "good guy" being at least as despicable as the "bad guys", leaving us no one to care about. Three stars.

I don't need a father, I need a dad.
nogodnomasters1 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Jake Hunter (Paul Sloan) is looking for his missing daughter, an addict. He traces her to Coachella run by the Nichols family. He eventually shoots the boy responsible for her death and becomes hunted as he attempt to enact revenge. Richard Dreyfuss plays his former commanding officer who is sent in to get Hunter out.

I had "Rambo" flashbacks. The film wasn't anywhere as good as "Rambo" and when you in part copy an iconic film, you need an "A" game which Sloan and Dreyfuss failed to provide. Michael Madsen is the guy Hunter sent his daughter to see to help her off her drug problem. Not my first choice.

Guide: F-word. Nudity (Viktoriya Dov )

Low Budget
georgekelonz23 October 2021
Sorry to the crew and producers but also no sorry. In that, from experience, these sort of movies amount to a waste of one's time amounting to the duration of the movie. With a 3.8/10 rating, the usual features are: lengthy unnecessary conversations, redundant scenes, action scenes lacking common sense and a very predictable plot. My advice, watch at ur own peril. Thanks.

Four writers, and not one could create a cohesive and coherent screenplay?
Top_Dawg_Critic25 October 2021
Towards the ending, Michael Madsen's character (the only decent actor in this slop) says "this world is a cruel and unforgiving place." It sure is when movies like this are being made.

Aside from the horrible writing - riddled with plot and technical issues and sloppy dialogue, the directing was terrible, especially the choppy action scenes. But most annoying, were the washed out colors and 80's slow-mo scenes. Never mind this being a B film, it felt more like a 5th grade drama class production.

Paul Sloan seemed to have trouble staying awake for most part of the film, and I can't figure out if Richard Dreyfuss was drunk, and/or on some bad meds. Clearly he was in this only for the paycheck.

The only decent qualities this film had going for it, was the well-paced 82 min runtime, and the score, which is usually loud, overbearing and unfitting - typical in B films.

This mess is a huge pass, and a generous 3/10 from me.

its like rambo 112...
ops-5253523 October 2021
Made for an opportunistic wish to make some more money on the consept and to give the super scooper grand old man richard dreyfusss some butter on his breadslice. Its a story about rambling rose thats on a high and on the run, and her fathers search for her, scouting out her last known location to save her. But the wild west city of nooneathoma is run by the sheriff and his family, where the douped out son seems to be the breastfondeling hudlum that sits on his daughter. He is incarcerated, the father, but he is a trained killer like rambo, and only one man in the world may help before ''every last one of them'' is dead, namely richy rich

this is b-film just bordering the c-film quality, it works on 2x ffwd, if it doesnt then, just leave the hairy soup of daftness. The screenplay and plot are so off from another and the cast looks very low on inspiration. Also the filmcrew forgot the shoulder straps of the camera backpack with triangulation problems and drunken configuration of the camerahandling, and the only steady shoots are from a selfreflecting drone.

No stay away from this wannamake money on a dollar movie, its just another brick on the wall of dreysusses castleprisondungeon. A no recommend from the grumpy old man.

Double Kiss of death
Deadsoonx22 October 2021
When I started the movie and saw the red Sagan logo I said uh-oh. Then I saw Michael Madison's name and I knew it was over. The movie begins in a strangely color filtered strip club. It's so washed out that the blue tinge is the only thing keeping it from being black and white.

The strippers were low budget as well with one having a rump so large and jiggly that even a club in the ATL would have trouble containing it. Also Karen is in this(the actress formerly known as Tayra Manning), looking very much like a Karen.

Nothing new, plain old action story. Competent but lifeless. Surprised to see Richard Dreyfuss, who did well but his role and dialog was asmplain and silly as the rest.

A father searches for his daughter...
fmtebay31 October 2021
And takes down an entire army to save her!

OMG, how does crap like this get green lit?

It's like the people financing these films are screaming, show me how to lose my money!

The producers could've gotten better writing from hiring people on Fiverr!

The action scenes look like home-made videos made on YouTube... by 12 year olds!

I'm wasting even more of my time after having already wasted my time watching this sewage grade movie that ends up being shown in a Motel 6 room.

Metoo shamed actors making junk films
random-7077826 October 2021
Really this film is awful. Dreyfus' metoo problems mean the roles he is being offered are junk films with the usual suspects of other actors who only do junk.

And what is it with action films where the lead action figures do not even know how to hold a firearm (tea cupping)??

What was that ? I repeat my review title.... This movie is actually one of the worst i watched. That storyline is such nonsens, the acting is terrible, especially Richard Dreyfuss' "performance" is horrific.

No, it is a waste of money and time.

A very typical revenge movie with a twist.
fulaingt23 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I found this movie to be something rather mundane. It had so many plot flaws it could have been a slasher film. I found it to be "Rambo-esuue' for a lot of it.

So many similarities. But.. And this.. the last 5 seconds of the movie..

Made me grin from ear to ear. What a twist..

Definitely a watcher, don't give up on it.. It's going to leave you with a cheerio, despite the so many flaws.. A great watch on a sunday afternoon, with nothing else on. Glad I endured it.. :)

8 out of 10 from me.

Simple action/revenge movie
Snakeskinzjr23 October 2021
Nothing new here , a bit like a poor mans version of Rambo with some Ozark tossed in. Michael Madson has done some bombs for several years, don't let the fact he is in it steer you away from it. His role is minimal. Overall a pretty decent action shoot em up film.

I feel truly bad for the hardworking people who worked on this awful movie
davidmmeredith26 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I recognize that there are many people who work on a movie and hope that it will be something to be proud of. This is one to lock in the basement and pretend you were not associated with it. I'm not even sure where to start on how bad this was. I kept thinking it was a spoof and the punchline would be delivered, but alas it was not. Here are just a few choice morsels.

The main protagonist puts a gun to the Sheriffs head, steals her car and proceeds to kill several people with the weapons he finds in it, including 1 in cold blood. And the next time she sees him, she just earnestly believes that he's "doing the right thing". I almost vomited into my hand at that scene.

Paul sloan has the emotional and acting range of Gerard Butler on a bad day. I mean, just terrible. He has one emotion, which looks like he needs to use the bathroom real bad.

At one point the protagonist is facing snipers and several heavily armed soldiers with assault rifles. Somehow EVERYONE misses him, even when he is running away in a straight line. At one point you see "tracer bullets" shooting about 50 ft over his head. I mean - I may not be a good shot, but a blind stormtrooper would get closer.

No one questions Richard Dreyfuss when he shows up. The sheriff doesnt even ask for ID, but just starts to blindly follow his softly spoken orders, even when it means driving a mass killer to his intended victims house. I mean. Come on. Seriously?

I WOULD like to something positive about the movie. I would, but I can't. It was a piece of drivel that should never have been made and I WISH I hadn't wasted 2 hours on a plane watching it.

It was just an awful, awful movie

Horrible script to start with. Implausible.

Just don't even know where to start with how dumb this was. They stole some elements from Rambo, First Blood, but they could not even make them right.

Such A Waste
aboutplaytime28 December 2021
Anything above a 1 is a gift... This movie is a literal waste of film. I'm shocked that actors of Richard Dreyfuss's caliber would put their name on this type of a horrible film. It needs no detail descriptions to explain the terrible acting, poor plot and senseless dialogue. Don't waste your time on this dog.

Poor quality - Charles Bronson would have done it right
lofts5519 January 2022
A lot of the audio was inaudible. Was Richard Dreyfus suffering from some sort of stroke issues as you couldn't understand much of what he said even when you could hear it. He should hang up his acting badge he's past it in so many ways. Why is it in this type of movie with all this constant gunfire multiple people shooting against one person, the person being hunted never ever picks up any of the weapons with more rounds or better firing actions? They carry on with one small gun which seems to have a never ending supply of bullets when in reality it can only hold about - I don't know 6-8 rounds but fires off about 30-40 shots in one scene ? So predictable and annoying.

Every Last One of Them
jboothmillard31 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As an official Razzies voter, I got emailed a list of suggested titles to be nominated at this year's awards, there are ten titles in each category, and this film was suggested for about five or six of them, so I had to see why. Basically, in a desert town in California, Jake Hunter (Paul Sloan) comes to town and stops off in a strip club. There he has an encounter with Bobby (Hudson Garland) who gives him attitude and provokes him into a fight. Then Bobby's father Ben Nichols (Jake Weber) arrives with his henchmen who knock him unconscious. He is taken to the police station and stays silent when interrogated by Nichols. Sheriff Kim (Mary Christina Brown) stops the henchmen suffocating Hunter with a bin bag and they leave. Hunter grabs Kim's gun and holds her at gunpoint to make his way out of the station and steals a police car. Nichols returns home and Bobby tells him he does not know who the man who attacked him was. Hunter pulls over to take weapons out of the trunk and remove the handcuffs from his wrist. The Sheriff calls him on the radio, he answers only to say he needs to find out what happened to his daughter. Meanwhile, Nichols is introduced by his friend Victor (Nick Vallelonga) to Chairman Doug Welmas (as himself) and Congressman Mike Ellis (Patrick Evans), and they have a meeting about a deal over water rights in the area. When Nichols returns home, Hunter arrives with a shotgun to see Bobby. At gunpoint, Bobby confesses that he does know Hunter's daughter Melissa (Claire Kniaz). A flashback reveals that Melissa was with Bobby and a group of people taking drugs. Hunter shoots Bobby dead (perhaps by accident) and flees when Bobby's aunt Maggie (Razzie nominated Taryn Manning) starts shooting at him. Hunter is chased by a group of mercenaries with machine guns through the nearby woods, although he evades and kills a few of them, he is injured. Officer Bartlett (Mike Hatton) arrives at the scene, fellow officer Stone (Brian Hayes Currie) orders him to shoot Hunter on sight. Bartlett is afraid and runs away, before being pinned down by Hunter, he gives him a message for Kim. Victor tells Nichols, who "runs the town", he needs to clear the mess up, and says sorry for Bobby being killed. While Hunter performs surgery on himself, a flashback shows conversations between him and his former boss Murphy (Richard Dreyfuss), and the fractured relationship between him and his daughter. Murphy is brought in to aid the situation and bring Hunter in. Another flashback reveals that Hunter tried to get his daughter clean of drugs with help from his brother Bill (Michael Madsen), a former drug addict. Hunter is found the following day by Stone and the mercenaries. Kim tracks Hunter using coordinates from Bartlett's locator that he took, he is sure that Nichols knows the circumstances of his daughter, and that there is a cover-up going on. Hunter tells Kim to look at the missing persons reports, and after she leaves, he tortures Stone for answers about what happened to Melissa. A flashback reveals that Stone witnessed Bobby having sex with Melissa whilst high on drugs and watched her die from a seizure. Hunter is enraged when Stone tells him that Nichols killed his daughter and stabs him with a knife through his head. Hunter goes to see Bill to find out where Melissa went and tells him that she with Bobby. Hunter speaks with Murphy on the police radio and says he will come in and bring those responsible for killing his daughter. Hunter steals a car and makes his way back to the police station, where many armed mercenaries are waiting for him. Following a shootout, Hunter is picked up by Kim, with Bartlett and Murphy, and asks them to take him to Nichols. When Nichols enters his home, Hunter is holding Maggie and demands to know what happened to his daughter. He breaks Maggie's fingers whenever he refuses to answer his questions. Nichols confesses that Bobby had a drug problem, as did Hunter's daughter, and says that it was a party with friends that got out of hand. When armed police arrive, Murphy calls Hunter out, and he brings them out with Nichols and Maggie. The last flashback reveals that Melissa was still alive following her seizure, Bobby wanted to save her, but Nichols insisted she was already close to death, and when Bobby and Stone left him, he drowned her in the lake, with Maggie watching from a distance. Nichols lies about how Hunter's daughter died, Hunter is emotional and, on Murphy's instruction, lowers his weapon. But it is Nichols and Maggie that are arrested. Kim comforts the bloodied Hunter and assures him that he is not the bad guy. Meanwhile, Bill makes a phone call to Hunter telling him to look after his daughter if he finds her, and if anyone should hurt her, they should "get what they deserve, every last one of them". It ends with Bartlett pulling over the police car, with Nichols and Maggie, and Murphy shoots them both dead with a machine gun. Also starring Viktoriya Dov as Jade and Dante Walker as Michaels. Sloan is reasonable as the leading anti-hero, Weber is a bit on-and-off as the villain, and Dreyfuss (apart from the ending) doesn't bring much to the table as the former boss. I can see why this can easily be compared to Rambo: First Blood, it is almost exactly the same concept, the tough guy on the run from the police, along with the bad guys, and things get violent. There is nothing wrong with the violence and when it goes all guns blazing, but the performances are lame, the dialogue is predictable, and the pace is uneven, it just feels too much like something you've seen before, a dull action thriller. Adequate!

I Liked it a Little
pokyhawk1 November 2021
If you've seen "Hardcore" with George C. Scott or any of the many movies like it, you'll recognize the plot similarities quickly. It's far from totally original in its story line but then, with all the remakes and reboots and, well you know, at least it's a new take.

I love Michael Madsen, Richard Dreyfuss and Taryn Manning so I decided to check this one out. It will very likely not even get talked about in the restrooms of any of the awards shows but it was entertaining to me.

I am very happy to see Mr. Dreyfuss back on the screen (although it's selfish of me to see him have to come out of retirement) and his character was played with the same strength and subtleties that are truly his forte.

Taryn Manning put in a good performance but Michael Madsen was a bit dryer than usual. I don't know if it was because he wasn't happy to be in the film or if it was poor directing or what but I've certainly seen Mr. Madsen put in much better performances.

Would I recommend this movie to my friends? I would say yes but with the caveat that they need to expect a movie that they may or may not want to watch again but I personally enjoyed having seen it.

Would I watch it again? Probably not for a long time but, being a cinephile, I watch a lot of movies others would not (I almost hate to admit that I've seen both "Refer Madness" and "Plan 9 from Outer Space" more than once. Not much more but still) so it is a possibility.

Revenge Rambo Style!!!
zardoz-138 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Everything goes sideways for the wicked villains in writer & director Christian Sesma's gritty but formulaic revenge thriller "Every Last One of Them,"when a father searching for his missing daughter upsets their best laid plans. Clocking in at a minimal but muscular 82 minutes, Sesma's eleventh feature film received an R rating for violence, sexual assault, drug use, profane language, and frontal nudity. Nefarious Ben Nichols (Jake Weber of "Meet Joe Black") rules the small California town of Coachella near the Salton Sea like a tyrant. He has brokered a lucrative water deal with a local Native American tribe which will generate billions for everybody. Ben's odious twentysomething offspring, Bobby (newcomer Hudson Garland), manages one of his dad's nude bars. When he isn't guzzling beer and harassing his half-clad strippers, Bobby throws impromptu parties in his trailer. Everybody is either shooting heroin or snorting cocaine. Inevitably, tragedy strikes when Bobby hooks up with a runaway girl, Melissa (Claire Kniaz of "Pinkapotamus"), who is estranged from her father. Meantime, this ill-fated liaison will overshadow Ben's business that his sister Maggie (Taryn Manning of "White Oleander") and he have forged with the Native Americans.

Clearly, Sesma and his three scenarists must love "First Blood" (1982) with Sylvester Stallone because they plundered it for their plot. Like John Jay Rambo, Jake Hunter remains cool under fire even when he is outnumbered and outgunned. Eventually, Hunter's former military commander, Murphy (Richard Dreyfus of "Jaws"), intervenes on his behalf, much like Colonel Trautman (Richard Crenna) did for Stallone's Rambo in "First Blood." "Every Last One of Them" differs from the garden variety of revenge thrillers because its protagonist is deeply troubled about the disappearance of his 19-year-old daughter. A black ops combat veteran, Jake wields firearms with consummate skill. Nevertheless, he bawls like a baby over the blunders he made because he was often away from his wife and family when Melissa needed him. Consequently, he alienated his rebellious daughter. As Jake's confidante, Bill (Michael Madsen of "Die Another Day") agrees to help Jake's wayward daughter overcome her various addictions. Unfortunately, Bill cannot help Melissa once she involves herself with Bobby Nichols.

"Every Last One of Them" unfolds with Jake Hunter entering Bobby's bar. He is minding his own business when he runs afoul of Ben's arrogant son. Jake tries to sidle past him, but Bobby seizes Jake by the shoulder and spins him around so they face each other. Grabbing Bobby by his neck, our hero slams the youth face down into the bar twice. His nose broken, a dazed Bobby staggers backwards. Jake easily disposes of the three bouncers before Ben Nichols appears with two armed bodyguards. One shoves the muzzle of his pistol into Jake's neck. Our hero leans against the bar but refuses to identify himself. Without warning, the henchman with his gun stuck in Jake's neck slugs him unconscious. Between this scene and Jake's next scene, Sesma shifts into flashback mode to introduce Jake's daughter Melissa as she strolls down a deserted highway. Melissa has been trying to reach Jake on her cellphone. Desperately, she wants to get off drugs and clean up her act. Eventually, Jake recovers consciousness and finds himself in an interrogation room at the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. No matter what he does, Ben cannot persuade Jake to cooperate with him. Ben's bodyguards shove a plastic bag over Jake's head after their boss leaves and try to asphyxiate him. Sheriff Kim (Mary Christina Brown of "Paydirt") rushes in and prevents them from suffocating him. Afterward, Jake surprises Sheriff Kim, disarms her, steals a police car, and races off to the Nichols' sprawling palm tree plantation for a showdown.

When Jake Hunter isn't shooting adversaries, he sheds profuse tears over his daughter who fell in with Bobby's depraved bunch. Although he injected heroin into Melissa, Bobby didn't drown her in a pond on the family property. Revenge heroes are supposed to suffer, and Jake is so grief-stricken that he kills his adversaries without mercy. Nothing about the violence in "Every Last One of Them" is glamorous. Hunter doesn't qualify as a traditional hero. He refuses to play fair. He never gives his enemies the benefit of the doubt. Whether his nemeses are armed or not, Hunter shoots or stabs them without a qualm of concern. Usually, Hollywood sugarcoats its action heroes, so audiences will sympathize with their predicament. Hunter stabs an obnoxious villain in the neck after the goon refuses to shut up and die. Hunter is beyond mercy by the loss of his daughter.

Sesma leaves neither his heroes nor his audience feeling triumphant at fade-out. Primarily, you feel relief when the end credits roll. Stone cold thriller that it is, "Every Last One of Them" shuns humor and has no comic relief characters. Paul Sloan is thoroughly believable as the angst-ridden father. Richard Dreyfus is always a joy to watch, and the Oscar winning actor is no less animated in this abrasive little epic. His timely intervention in Hunter's plight is probably the most brazen act. He fools Ben and Maggie Nichols into thinking he is acting on their behalf. Literally, Dreyfus takes charge of the situation and smooths everybody's feathers. Sadly, Michael Madsen is wasted in a peripheral role and never picks up a pistol. Hardcore action junkies who crave above-average, B-movie revenge yarns with all the right cliches should savor "Every Last One of Them" for the offbeat but tragic actioneer that it is.

Wow. Pretty Bad.
emortland22 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This film is so bad I started to feel sorry for it. If you remember Mssrs Madsen and Dreyfuss from Reservoir Dogs & The Goodbye Girl, you're going to wonder what the heck happened to their careers. To be fair, I don't think any of the actors in this endeavor are trying to be stupid, they're as good as the director & script let them be. They should be cautious about working with this creative team again.

So mysterious loner is looking for his junkie daughter in some small town, we realize in the first ten minutes he has the usual black-ops/hitman/assassin skills. And in the remaining seventy-two minutes about fifty guys can't seem to kill him with tracer bullet machine guns but by George he can get them easily. Well, okay then. Incidentally, were the bad shooters in town square supposed to be military guys? Local militia group? Hard to tell.

A lot of the reviews here compare to this "Rambo," but I don't see that all: all: Mr Stallone's character was sympathetic and methodical, Mr Sloan's character is at best semi-sympathetic and literally all over the place. With the bullet-repellant cloak shield.

I could go on, but now I'm bored. Did they give the Sherriff a Korean name? Why? Did this film actually make money? To pay for the drone shots? Did I really waste eighty-two minutes watching this? Gosh darn it.
