Another engrossing story.

Mild mannered first aid instructor, Mr Woodcock is rattled one evening, by the loutish behaviour of the football committee, to get his own back, he books the Village Hall, on the very night of their annual dinner, they have to win him round.

Who'd have thought that Kenneth Cope, of Randall and Hopkirk would write such a fascinating, interesting story such as this.

It's so engrossing, and considering it's from the early part of the 1970's, it's something of a take down of toxic masculinity, it's not that football bullies that win through, it's very much Woodcock.

Such an interesting story, it's amusing at times, pretty serious at others.

Acting wise, it's a real triumph, the likes of Sydney Tafler, Patrick Troughton and Derek Watling, Richard Pearson perhaps steals the show.

8/10.
