History buffs and Muppet fanatics unite!

Shane Madej has always been my favourite part of Buzzfeed Unsolved, hilarious, quirky, rational, and talented - needlessly writing musical numbers for the Hot Daga, which itself was needless and insanely funny in a stupid kind of way. Shane was previously given free rein in his own show, Ruining History, with mixed results. Puppet History is a new but unfortunately rarely running show (once per month?) that picks up where Ruining History left off - and does it better.

Shane definitely takes this opportunity to shine - a musical number in every episode, going nuts with puppetry (something he once hinted he dabbled in during Buzzfeed Unsolved), and a game show feel. It's like a blend of the Hot Daga, Ruining History, and even Buzzfeed Unsolved. Unlike Ruining History which suffered from too large a panel, Puppet History limits itself to a small cast of three humans per episode and you get a bit of that Shane vs. Ryan dynamic. Unlike the awful costumes you saw in the Pope episode of Ruining History, the puppets in Puppet History have a reason for looking stupid - similar to the Hot Daga.

The first episode, "Life During the Black Death Pandemic," starts off well but relies on a bit too much scatological humour. "Stealing the World's Most Expensive Necklace" is also good, with guest contestant Kate Peterman's laughter being contagious. But "Surviving the Titanic" is definitely the best episode to date and shows a lot of promise. I look forward to the next episode, and if the rest of the series is as good it may soon rival Buzzfeed Unsolved: True Crime.

WHAT A SHOW

Warning: Spoilers
This show is hilarious! I love the guests and I love Shane voicing The a Professor. All the songs were written by Shane. One man. AND THEY'RE MASTERPIECES. The designs of the puppets are cute and funny. They're also fighting for Jellybeans. WHAT KINDA OF SHOW HAS JELLYBEANS AS A PRIZE. PUPPET HISTORY DOES.

More Puppet History please!

I love this series! The obviously beloved host, the Professor is so endearing, yet you know there is something dark beneath his faux-fur muppety exterior. Ryan has the right amount of acidic wit to counter balance the Professor's enthusiasm. There is a musical guest each episode, and they are so talented! If you like a good story, trivia, banter, and puppets, well this show is your dream come true.

A beautiful and entertaining show

This show is so entertaining to watch. I love anything history related, but this really takes the cake. Shane does an amazing job balancing the actual history lesson, and the storyline/lore. Oh my God don't get me started on the lore. This show has more lore than most mainstream TV shows. The attention to detail is truly impeccable. I just finished season 5 and it was absolutely amazing. The ending was extremely wholesome and honestly made me cry. It was so nice to see Ryan and the Professor reunite and make up. It was also really fun to see Ryan fighting a puppet hologram. ( I mean who wouldn't want to watch that?) This show never fails to entertain. I can't wait for next season, and to see what Shane comes up with next.

Puppets creep me out

But the professor is adorable, and because I love history I can look past the puppetry. Being a history nerd, I'm surprised at how much I've learned watching this. Such a great find!

Puppet humor and history!

Shane and Ryan are always funny. The professor and Ryans banter makes the show. You do get information and they make it into a quiz show kinda.

It's just a fun show all around.
