I really did enjoy this episode. From the high action, to the drama with HPD, the episode was simply amazing. I really liked the fact that the episode used "off screen" writing, allowing for more screen time for the amazing scenes. I also enjoyed the fact that the episode used real restaurants (Chubbies Burgers) while also using the iPhone UI and words like "AirDrop" in the writing. Great job!
Despite all of this, there were a few problems. For one, the episode has Katsumoto becoming Magnum's new assistant. This is a problem, as isn't that iilegal? Also, I didn't exactly enjoy the logic in the case. The guy who was killed didn't seem like the kind of person who would kill someone, but maybe that was a acting issue.
There were also a few other things that were good about this episode. For one, this issue address the "lawless state" problem that is depicted in Magnum P.I. In previous episodes, Magnum and his friends were able to get away with certain things, like having big weapons and other things. In this episode, the HPD is chasing after Magnum's Ferrari, after the two criminals frame him and Higgins. Also, Rick does community service as a result of being an associate of Icepick (2x20), and even gets his sniper taken away at the end of the episode.
Overall, this episode isn't perfect. It has a few flaws and such, but it's still a pretty good episode. The writers managed to get a lot of good paced drama in just the first half of the episode! That's something that hasn't really been done before.
