This is where Better Call Saul broke me...
robotintroverted11 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't have any words for this review... usually I talk about everything that happened, and everything I liked about the episode, but I literally don't have any words for this episode. I guess the best way to describe this episode is betrayal, sadness, and relief. You can also count heart wrenching and shock, even panic inducing.

I keep on thinking these writers can't top themselves, first it was with Nacho's episode, then it was Howard's death, and now it's with this episode... I'm still feeling the panic and stress from this episode, and while the end credits wash over me.

There will be a lot of moments where your stomach might drop, your heart may break, and your anxiety may increase. I seriously have no idea what will happen next, I know it'll be insane, but I genuinely have no clue. All I can guess is that Kimmy and Jimmy will break up...

I don't really know what to say, but this is at least in my top 3 episodes of TV, maybe top 2. God this episode just broke me in so many different ways, especially how Jimmy had to sit tied up on the floor looking at Howard's body.

I think... I need to lie down a bit...

11/10, or whatever the highest rating is.

Point and Shoot
lassegalsgaard12 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've heard every single argument there's out there against the idea of a prequel. "There's not enough new stories to tell." "We know what happens to these characters." "It's a shameless cash grab." And while some of those arguments carry a lot of merit, there are those few excellent examples of prequels that are done right. When "Better Call Saul" was first announced, I think a lot of people were a little skeptical. Not necessarily about the possible quality of the show (given that "Breaking Bad" had been the best television had to offer for a while), but that there wouldn't be enough new and interesting stories to tell with a character who always came across as one-note (in a good way) in the original show. However, what Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould showed us was that this is a guy with so much more in the bag and they've now formed a character who is one of the fullest and most exciting characters in any of these shows. And this show has been excellent. I'm constantly surprised at how good it is and that they haven't missed the beat even once this final season, which is shaping up to be something quite the phenomenon. We're back now and have gone through one of the darkest episodes of this show that I can remember, and it's all setting up an ending that is truly unpredictable at this point. They've spared no expense in making sure that we're going to be shocked no matter what happens.

A big thing that this episode tackled was the idea of guilt. Obviously, there's a lot of guilt in Jimmy and Kim's hearts after what they went through during the last episode. They're going to have to live with an outcome that I don't think they saw coming and neither did we. Plus, the event of this episode adds more guilt to various different characters, with one of the last shots of Mike's soulful eyes looking straight into the camera being one of the most haunting shots that this show has produced. There's so much baggage in this remarkable episode.

There's a lot that carries over into this episode and in many ways, it feels like the finale of the first half and the premiere of the second half works as a two-part episode that tells one story and ends on a note that feels satisfying, yet heartbreaking. The aftermath of Howard's death is dealt with in a classic "Better Call Saul" fashion, and another big thing in this episode that ties to that leads into an ending that's so somber that you can't help but have a tear in your eye. It's all brilliant directed and even better written.

As always, the episode featured tons of tension between all the characters. There's a note that the writers do in this episode to truly show the care that Jimmy and Kim have for each other, and while I never thought that it was questionable, it's nice to see that there's nothing but actual love between them. There were also a lot of good scenes between Tony Dalton and Giancarlo Esposito who have had too little time together on screen until this point, so to see them and the manner of their scenes, was an absolute joy every time it occurred.

The acting has always been a big thing in this show, and there are always standouts. In this episode, Tony Dalton gave a truly manic portrayal of Lalo Salamanca, something that we have seen before, but there are things that make his performance ever more memorable in this episode. The fact that he finally feels like he has the advantage against Gus and shows it in every scene they're together, is a testament to his dedication to the role. All of the new additions to this show has planted themselves in the lore, but Lalo has an especially important place.

"Point and Shoot" continues this season's incredible streak and shows us that these writers will subvert expectations at every chance they get to great effect. The tension in this episode felt real and I felt like I would if I was worried about a loved one, because it's become so real at this point.

This was not an episode. This was a movie

I'm speechless. The quality of this episode is off the charts. Every shot and every scene was phenomenal and the music was brilliant. One of the best shows of all time without any doubt.

Was That Why The Fly Was There?
Near-L12 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Omg Jessie and Walter were cooking above a graveyard. Crazy episode. I had to rewatch the Gus/Lalo scene to see if it was believable cause at first watch i thought it wasn't but it definitely was. Lalo deserved at least a proper duel ending and they nailed it. Cause you imagine Lalo wouldn't be sloppy and finish Gus right after he stopped the insults but i guess Gus touched a nerve by saying some harsh truths that he was a bit stunned. Everything else was also thoughtfully crafted it scares me that the showrunners could actually get away with murder.

Obsessions
tristan_1912 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After the brilliant cold open, we dive right into Point and Shoot, where we get right back at Jimmy's house.

The characters will never be the same after this episode. Kim, Jimmy, Gus and everybody else had their lives changed forever in this tumultuous episode of television. The pace picks back on and Lalo tells his plan. Jimmy is shielding Kim by having her be the one executing it, but he doesn't know about the antagonist's ulterior motives.

You feel the tension and suspense at every turn. A lot of elements came full circle. I loved that Lalo continued his evidence video for Don Eladio. And of course, Gus had his backup plan. The LIE established at the beginning of the season gets to continue here, and Howard will be forever depicted as a cocaine addict.

I also really love the parallel between Gus and Lalo. Gus' greatest obsession was tormenting Hector Salamanca. He couldn't keep him out of his head. Lalo's greatest obsession was to expose Gus to Eladio. And once they decided to end it once and for all, that's when they both died. Great piece of storytelling right here.

It's traumatic and a game changer for sure. At the end there, when Gus' crew was burying the bodies, you strangely feel the end closing in. It's the beginning of the end for a phenomenal adventure that started 14 years ago.

What Can I Say Except It's Perfect?
MamadNobari9712 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Although this is a spoiler review, I will still refrain from spoiling too much.

This was the perfect and the saddest, and maybe even the most shocking conclusion to the events of the previous episode and season 5 to now.

Lalo outsmarting Gus in this episode and making Gus having trouble breathing because of his threat, and making him the most scared he has been in his life since Hector killed his friend in front of him was just something else.

Lalo will not only go down in history as one of the best TV villains, but he will remain the best villain in the Breaking Bad universe and the only one who scared the hell out of Gus Fring and outsmarted him till the end. Don't worry, I remember when Nacho made Gus really nervous in episode 3.

There's not much Saul in this episode but he's really good when he is, and Kim really gets to shine and also, the whole plot line of her doing what she has to do makes this episode so much more intense because we don't know her fate.

The ending made my jaw drop to the floor at first, I was shocked, and then made me cry again about Howard and what happened to him. Definitely the most tragic character in this show and perhaps one of the most tragic and heartbreaking character arcs in TV history.

That ending adds so much more subtext and lore to Breaking Bad that I'm pretty sure no one will ever watch Breaking Bad seasons 3 and 4 the same way again. And it also will definitely changes forever how we look at the controversial Fly episode from Breaking Bad, or any time they spent time in the superlab honestly.

How do they follow this up?
maxglen12 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow... another absolutely incredible episode. Cinematography? Beautiful. Acting? Perfection. Tension? You better believe it. This episode succeeds at doing just about everything it sets out to do and it does it with style. I don't understand how we still have another handful of episodes after this?! Rhea Seehorn is probably my stand out this episode. Her performance in the first half of this episode was haunting. Give the woman an award I beg of you. Giancarlo Esposito also delivers a stinging monologue when confronted with Lalo which has to be up there as one of the characters best moments. Speaking of which, the pieces of Gus' puzzle all fell into place this week and although it probably didn't go down as cleanly as they'd hoped, Lalo is gone. Lalo has been such an incredible villain (my personal favourite of the series) and it's sad to see him go but nobody could say he didn't get what was coming to him, and that bloody smile just before he dies is exactly what I have come to expect from him. I also liked seeing how Mike Insisted on Howard's body being handled with more humility than Lalo's, it's a subtle moment but completely fitting with Mike's character. I can't really fault this one. I have no idea how they are going to continue from here but this has to be a 10 for me. That's all I got. Thank you for reading my review and I'll see you all next week.

Spoiler Free since jerks are posting (mostly fake) spoilers
thomasibach11 July 2022
Like the end of last season, this episode continues a trend of raising the stakes, which, if you saw the last episode, you'd know is difficult to do. The opening let's you know what you're in for.

For nearly an hour and ten minutes the audience is under duress seeing saul and Kim being put in a catastrophic position, having them follow the well kept secret that is lalos masterplan while being involved directly in the war between gus and the not-dead lalo Salamanca. "Point and shoot" has gone passed the point of no return.

During my original viewing of this episode, I was initially curious as to where Kim's development ends up, since this takes the character to someplace completely unexpected.

This episode was so tense yet beautifully made. So many mixed feelings and emotions throughout the episode. Better Call Saul is just way way ahead of any current TV show airing.

rwburkey-6577512 July 2022
I really enjoyed Breaking Bad, as it is arguably the best show ever made. As for Better Call Saul, it has been entertaining since day one. Might even go far enough to say its better than BB. Although its a "slow burn", it is nonetheless extremely engaging. This season has upped the intensity compared to the slow burn episodes, and this one will have you on the edge of your seat for nearly 40 minutes. Curious to see where the next episodes will lead. Well done Vince Gilligan.

A very dark and cold episode.
Adam-0926512 July 2022
The silence, the dark of night, the terror. A very depressing episode, almost feels like the episode Felina from Breaking Bad with it's cold gritty atmosphere. Characters feel frozen to the bone with shock, suspense surrounds others. This show has just gotten really dark really fast.

9.8/10.

Better call saul started as a spin off of one of the best tv shows in history but ironically it's becoming one best tv shows in the history, I honestly didn't expect much when i first started watching better call saul but last season and this season (especially the last two episodes) have gradually changed my mind l, it's got everything you need in a tv show i just wish it didn't have to end so soon but hey as long as we get a good ending i'm fine.

Pretty good but several characters are surely way less clever
bgaiv18 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Why don't Mike and Gus immediately guess Kim being sent to Gus's house was a distraction? They aren't that dumb and know Lalo is very smart.

When Gus did figure it out, why does he head to the laundry instead of calling Mike? (To be fair, Mike does later call him out on this.).

Why doesn't Gus turn the lights on at the laundry? Why doesn't he tell his four goons he suspects Lalo (or someone) is there? Then maybe they would be on the lookout instead of standing there like four red shirts? Why wouldn't the goons already be in a more defensive formation.

Why does Lalo allow Gus such a long speech while Gus marches back and forth? Hubris, maybe for the speech, but he should have told him to not move.

When Gus kills the lights, why does Lalo just stand still in the same spot? You don't have to be as smart as Lalo to know you better duck/run/whatever. It's instinctive.

Other notes:

Disappointing end to Lalo. It seemed pretty inevitable but we really didn't get enough of this character, one of the greatest in the BB world.

Reportedly, at the early screening, everybody thought Jimmy made Kim go to Gus's house because he was a coward. That was certainly my impression as well!

Lalo slipping past the surveillance camera right when nobody was looking seemed awfully lucky. I just don't think Lalo worked on luck.

Lalo's dying grin was perfect. Dalton always played Lalo so deliciously! Maybe he should get a spin-off.

Minor question: Why don't they dispose of the four dead goons in the hole for Lalo and Howard?

Big Scenario Failure/Cheap Scenes With Low Quality
nikthefreak14 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Lalo alone penetrates with ease Gus fortress with dozen of armed men and security !

All of Gus team are professionals killers expecting him, but they act like totally unprofessionals !

Gus makes unbelievable and childish mistakes for such a strong character, becoming a caricature !

There is no connection between Howard and Lalo and Howard shouldn't been involved and die.

Very cheap scene where Gus kills Lalo.

Very cheap scenario with Kim distraction story.

Creators lost their quality and hurry to end the series with childish scenes.

Point towards a decision and shoot your shot.
hotrobinproductions12 July 2022
It's a game of CAT and MOUSE only this time the cat and mouse roles are flipped a couple times. Everybody's mind is scrambling about and pointing their shot whether that's for redemption or to find a window in the other persons shot. It's fascinating really.

Lalo is unpredictable, Saul and Kim are tormented, Mike and Gus are fed up. So much elements and set pieces coming together to create a episode that is full of chaos, sorrow, thrills and excitement. Plan and Execution was a perfect full circle and visually amazing episode and this one only adds more to the impact that episode left. Episode left me in awe, every shot from the opening shot of tension building up to what happened in the episode prior. The shots and camera angles in this episode were top dollar.

Best teleplay ever for a TV series.
charley_varrick11 July 2022
What to say? The expectations have been fulfilled. Vince Gilligan reigns! He was right when he said BCS would pass BrBra. My heartfelt congratulations to all the cast, crew and especially Peter Gould. Perfect episode. Masterpiece. I'd say it's worthy of 57 minutes of standing applause. Could not find a fault. And this last season isn't over yet. If you haven't seen it yet, get ready for delirium. Go through it yourself. Nothing else to add.

Better Caul Saul only gets better and better!
ThomasJ_912012 July 2022
For a prequel show that has characters that if you've seen Breaking Bad a handful of them have plot armor but they still brilliantly got me on the edge of my seat with characters I know will live and that's not easy for any show to do .BCS had me from episode 1 season 1 and I never thought things could get so tense....man what a ride so far!! 10/10 for this episode! Also I've heard they filmed the season not knowing where they'd split it up for the first half of it ended and the second half started and some of the earlier seasons have multiple episodes have such high stakes that blow other great shows finale or season openers away , hard to find shows this amazing season after season, episode after episode. I couldn't think of any show right now that's currently running I'd recommend more!

Most Intense Episode Ever!!!
abigoldberger12 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Some people were saying episode 3 was tis show's Ozymandias, others saying episode 7. But this! This is something different! From Lalo wanting Saul to attempt to kill Gus,(he knew it wouldn't work) to Kim being the one to go; I was praying for her life! Most of us knew how the Gus - Lalo confrontation was going to end, but they still manged to make it super intense. And Lalo having a last laugh before dying was amazing!

It's amazing how much storylines they were able to close with one episode, over the span of one night. It felt like a season finale of sorts, when we have another 5 episodes left to conclude the entire show, and bringing together all the timelines!

This reminds you how well they write everything at first slow paced; slowly setting everything up untill the true BOOM!!!

Too easy
pieraussie17 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I am a great fan of BCS and BB but when things happening are too simplified just to make things easier and justify what we have seen in BB I am disappointed. Lalo spends months travelling the world, killing innocent people in Germany and everyone in between then when finally is face to face with Gus acts like a clown playing with his silly camera and ending shot and killed by a guy that usually moves as slow as a sloth? LOL. How handy that the gun Gus used, in the dark, was hidden just in the right place to be used in that particular moment? Vince, please. Let's not even talk about the tension so many rave about, we all know Gus won't die, Saul won't die, Mike won't die and senõr Salamanca will live with his trusty bell for many years to come .For some reason they decided to wrap up this great series in 6 final episodes and now they have the rush to set all the puzzle pieces to justify BB story. So Howard had to go, Lalo had to go like an absolute beginner, soon will be Kim's turn. They also apparently completely forgot about the black and white subplot with Jimmy working in the shopping centre bakery with a new identity shown for years in the previous season at the start of every episode. Let's hope the level will improve with the next episodes. Too easy.
